hey i have a stock vt s manual and im wondering whats the best and easiest mods i could do to increase peformance
Easiest mod for performance would be to sell it and buy a new car.
If that's not an option, try the search button.
Hi Coch.
Usually people do exhaust, cai, tune, rockers and gears.
If you search on forums you will get a lot more much more in detail info
PERFORMANCE MODS- JTG Liquid injection, Under driven pulley, Pacemaker extractors, 3" X-force system, Cold air intake, MAF Less tune 267.9 RWKW'S

Yes I know, if you get anymore manly you are in danger of making yourself pregnant!
Remove the existing engine and replace it with an L67 and an L67 tune(memcal). Direct bolt in.
When you do things right, people won’t be sure you’ve done anything at all,,,,,,,,,
353RWHP L67 VS S Pack 6 Speed
Kalmaker Tuning Software N03 N04 N05 N06 N07 N08 W00 W10 W20 W21 W30 W31
W40 W41 W45 W46 W50 W51 W55 W56 W81 W85 W86 W91 W95 W96
i think its safe to assume he's on his P's which generally makes that not really an optionRemove the existing engine and replace it with an L67 and an L67 tune(memcal). Direct bolt in.
Apologies to the OP if your not on your P's
save money that would be spent on those mods.
put it towards an 8.
unless you have lots and lots to chuck at a 6. it isnt going to be a rocket ship.
however if you want to improve fuel economy performance (tbh id consider that a performance increase)
Mace Spacers. Extractors (not all but some can) with 2 1/4 stock exhaust.
i can get 8L per 100. with just the S/C Cai and 12mm Mace spacers. hopeing it gets better witht he extractors (ive read the ones im getting should)
easiest mod is to remove all the rubbish in your car you dont need.
baby seats. toolboxes. spare wheels... (seriously dont do that one)
less weight = less that engine has to haul around.
I thought extractors where one of the last mods that your meant to do as they don't make much difference?
I'm no expert but that's what I've read.

i'm on my P's i have a VT manual, i've done: extractors, hiflow cat, 2.5" exhaust, mace 12mm spacers, growler kit, bored and polished TB, yella terra 1.7's, 105# valve springs with locks and retainers to suit, wade 992a cam, crow cams lifters and timing chain, chip torque tune, kings springs and gt shocks, 3.46's LSD. you feel the biggest differences when you do the exhaust system and diff gears. its up to you with the amount of mods you want to do, just make sure you plan ahead.
hmm scroopy... soopy?![]()
Going where no late model stato/caprice has gone before.... GAME ON!!
i believe it all depends.
from research and talking to lots of people ive come to the conclusion that extractors with the 2 1/4 for a v6 that it is actually pretty good.
the problem is lots of people go for 2 1/2 systems with their 6's.
this is larger, which lets gas cool down more. its the whole maths behind it.
the larger pipes only are effective at high revs and higher speeds. which = racing and so forth (unless you hold it at 3500+ rpm)
with the smaller pipes (2 1/4) and extractors for low end (which i have ordered) it can improve the lower end alot. (up to 4000rpm and up to about 90kph)
pretty much if you are going to build a car you would want an exhaust to suit. no point having too little or too much backpressure....
but when mine eventually goes in (ive order them, now to wait) ill be able to confirm this. (extractors with a stock 2 1/4 set up. which should be super quiet)
but my reason for this (apart from hole in exhaust) is to try to improve fuel economy (as i drive currently 1000kms a week.. so lot of fuel)
and the car is built for towing. so hopefully better torque down low will improve it even more.
