Default Cubic Inch question of the day!

    Hey,

Can anybody please tell me what the Cubic Inch Capacity of the ECOTEC V6 is?

I put the bore and stroke into a calculator, and it came up 233. I put 3.8 liters into a converter, and it came up 232.

Now I've got someone telling me that it's actually 236!

    Thanks guys

It's actually 3.791L to be precise and it works out to 231.341 cubic inches.

This. In my googling the 3.8L is as NAAF said, 3.791L or 3791cc. As opposed to the 3.8L/3800cc they claim it is.

Exactly the same as the 4.9 litre Holden.

Nothing new for manufacturers to round their figures.

Holden's 5L changed from a bit over 5 litres to a bit under 5 litres in the mid-late 70's I think it was when the pollution stuff came in. Can't remember the details of exactly when.

They went from 308 to 304 in 1984 to meet Group A racing rules to beat weight handicaps for engines 5L and above.

True. I thought there was an earlier change but could be wrong, I've had a few

Not quite, the black 308 was released in the VK, but early VK's had the 308 and later (I think September 1984?) they were 304.
