CAI (waste of dosh) S/S headers, S/S exhaust, piggyback ECU S/C or turbs.

why is cold air a wast of time for the VZS?
i wouldnt worry about going genuine holden parts unless you are worried about voiding your warranty

What sort of dollars for a TC or SC ...

And is the motor strong enough to handle one???

I would expect that if forced induction was added the CAI would almost be essential

    Quick Question:

What sort of horespower gain would i be expecting if i added the following on the 5-speed auto sv6

    - High flow air filter
    - ss induction CAI
    - Performance exhaust system (incl. headers and high flow cat. converter)
    - Remaping to suit above mods.

    probably around $3-5000 sc
and you could probably pick up a second hand turbo that will suit for 2000 including accessories

I think the question was how much gain power wise???

    I am guessing but maybe

    CAI and filter 5-10 rwkw's
    Exhaust including CAT 5 - 10 rwkw's
    Total 10 - 20 rwkw's
Remapping of above mods maybe all up 30 rwkw's if you are lucky

    Does that sound about right??

basically they make fark all gain for 600 bucks or whatever ss inductions is trying to flog them for. Better to save 200 more bucks, and get a piggyback memcal ecu which you can switch over from factory to performance settings. HSV/metro in Adelaide will fit one for around 900 bucks, give or take.

Id say a full exhaust (headers to tip) and a piggyback ecu id say 40rwkw. D and T Performance say thats pretty much on the buzzer

you cant actually rip out the factory ecu and replace with say a motec. Software hasnt been developed to its full potential or isnt possible, thats why you need a piggyback.

So really we could get 250 fwkw's or about 190rwkw's

Thats getting up there with an XR6 Turbo...
I have been in one of those and they hammer.... .
Could our SV6 go that hard???

Replace the alloytec 190 intake pipe with the one off the 175 (no silencer, no restriction, wider pipe), and if you're game, pull the MAF off. Ive found mine pulled a bit harder with no MAF.

I imagine a lot of work would need to be done on internals also to handle even a few pounds of boost... Not looking to spend 10k on the motor, just getting the best from it...

a cold air intake with a hi flow air filter along with a good exhaust will give you a good boost , i had a 2.5" exhaust on my vr which sounded alright, soon as i put the cold air and k&n filter it sounds alot deeper and the car is more responsive thats the cheapest mod i can think of and it cost : CAI kit (genuine) - 56 dollars K&N panel filter 100 dollars

Allow at least $2k for full exhaust, with the headers the cats need to be replaced, the standard cats are 5" deep, replace them with 3" deep if I remember correctly, $700 for pacies, $600 for new cats and add $400-$450 for cat back system, not cheap to do the alloytec 175 or the 190.

Geez, can't compare an SV6 with an XR6T its just not a comparison, wait till the VE Turbo six, then come back with the XR6T, ford may up the ante alittle on certain power stakes but holden just hits back harder .
