Default What do you know about Eaton superchargers?

I am looking to use an Eaton M90 s/c from a 3.8 V6 on a Dragbike and want to know a couple of things. Firstly, can you change the direction of rotation by flipping the front cover so that the pulley drives the other rotor? It would simplify my job if I can drive it off the left side of the motor but that spins the wrong way. Secondly, can they be used in a vertical position i.e with one rotor above the other? what type of oil do they use anyway?

Unless you could put the drive rotor on the other side. Not going to say it won't work coz in thoery it should be able to be run from either side so long as it spins in the right direction.

I'd have to look at mine (seeming it's apart) and check it out.

They can be used int he vertical position. The only thing you'll have to consider is the bearings in the front housing need to be lubricated. The rears are fine as they don't require oil. But the front has oil in the casing where the gears are. These gears and bearings need lube. So you'd have to keep an eye on that.

What sort of motor bike are you going to put it on?

You'll also have to keep an eye on the revs? The M90 has a max RPM of 14000 rpm. So if you are planning to use it on a engine that revs to 9000 rpm then be very careful about what size pulley you are going to use. Make sure the ratio is with in it's safe working limit.

The other consideration is to buy a new blower from Yella Terra. They sell the exact same blower but it doesn't have the bulky base foot print and a much simpler way of attatching the blower to a manifold/mount set up.

Also they have both axial and radial entry blowers (I think that's right, LOL). Top entry and rear entry.

    Best of luck!

I am only going with this blower cause its cheap and there are lots available. I will have to make my own drive/manifold etc. anyway as there is nothing available. It is going on a 1428cc kawasaki engine in a custom frame with 10" slick and will use mechanical methanol injection. Is currently running 8.7's with carbs and nitrous but I want to go faster for cheaper! I want to run around 20psi boost which with this size blower will only need about 110% overdrive so blower RPMs should not be an issue and that should keep the blower operating at a speed where it is less inefficient. This is all experimental for me and on shoestring budget but that is the only way to learn anything.

    Sounds great!!!!!

Man you'll have to take some pics of it for me if you decide to go ahead with it. I'd love to follow your progress!!!

    8.7s.......... HOLY CRAPOLA!!!!!!!

If it all works out the M90 will be great!!! It will give you huge bottom end, the top end will awver a bit but if you dial the cams in right you should be able to get just the right amount of top end out of it!!!

Sounds like you got it all sussed!

    Keep us/me posted!!!!

I am a very long way from having it sussed! The blower should arrive in the next few days and I found an old hilborn injection setup that will get here in a week or so, so it is all going ahead if I can just make it work.

well the blower arrived. It is HUGE. didnt realise how much the bypass valve added to the size of the unit. it still fits though, just. looks like they cant be reversed though, seven bolt pattern on front cover, so I will just have to make up a drive off the right hand side of the engine, damn.
