Default Advice on which engine to rebuild please

    Hello all.
Finally got my Eaton M90 and manifold to suit the Pre Ecotech V6.
I will be rebuilding the engine for it and following similar specs to what the V6 Vengeance project contained but won't be spending all that money as is just for a very nice daily driver and some fun.
The question I wanted to ask those of you with experiance in the specs of the pre ecotech V6s is : Would it be better to rebuild the spare Series 1 3.8l Buick or get a cheap Series 2 3.8l Buick and rebuild that ?
What are the pros and cons and which should give a better result ?

I really appreciate your advice and eagerly await your replies

    Cheers

Wheni build a Motor for my VN i want a VR bottom end so i have the removeable Rear Main Seal. the VN/VP have the rope seal which is a bitch.

Also if using new pistons get the 8.5:1 comp ones. some people say Vr is higher in comp.

Default VR heads diff to VN heads ?

thanks for that. so use better comp pistons.
Will VR Heads flow better / worse than series 1 heads ? Do they bolt straight onto block ?

    Cheers for your help

the s1 v6 uses a different crank and rear seal, different intake etc. the s2 is probably more common as it was carried over into the VP/VR etc. not sure on the heads or the CR ofthe later engines

from memory the compression of the vr engine is slightly higher, i think 9:1, as opposed to 8.5:1.
i think your best bet is to just use a complete vr engine, i think the heads on these are also marginally better than previous s1 items.
