Ok guys,
i know this might be stupid, but iv searched the forum and havnt found what iv been after...might not have looked as good as i could've BUT....thers a few quesitons that i have foudn to the un answered or half answered, iv looked on the CRS site too....
1. It puts out 3psi of boost...but you can buy a bigger psi pulley from CRS, but yet it says its shouldnt be done...blah blah blah, and it also says that u CAN intercool it, but is not reccomended or something and it is alot of hard work....
2. IF you intercool it, how hard is it??? And if u do, does that mean u can run a bigger PSI pulley??? or does it need a bit more work??
3. It says it takes a competent guy abuot 7 hours to install...is that the truth??? I expected it to be a while, but 7 hours![]()
4. At $2000 a kit, supply, is it a good price for the work that is needed to get it to run?? At 3psi, it wouldnt be THAT helpful would it?? i know 3 pound is better than nothing![]()
Overall, is it worth getting??/ How much power would it put out over a stock engine...if i havnt covered something that is important...jus add it![]()
Cheers Fellas...any replies appriciated
Francis
1. A SMALLER pulley is need to make more boost, a few people have these little blowers pumpin out 10psi+ with a few mods.
2. a few people have intercooled these kits with ease, if you get some piping made up, should be pretty easy. You should get a tune if your running the smaller pulley.
3. Shouldnt take more than 7 hours.
4. For 2k, buy a turbo kit off ebay which is already intercooled and will already make alot more boost than these kits.
Overall it depends on how much power you are chasing. You should speak to IBLOWN who has one of these blowers on his VS intercooled making good power.
waste of money 3psi , why bother? just do a rebuild on your motor you will get more power than 3psi power from the charger. or do what tysons_2001 says, with the turbo kit.
dude if your thinkin of this for yourself, i wouldnt bother, cos the rules are changing in july, & you wont have your p's before then
yea i know the rules are coming in, but how would a copper know that it is supercharged if its not intercooled....it looks stock in the engine bay...and thats guys for ur repliescleared some things up
and yea i knew that a smaller pulley creates more boost, i was just a little tired this morning...or whenever i posted It
cheers guys!!
p.s. about those turbo kits on eBay...are they good quality![]()
it won't sound stock, and only a dumb cop wont know.
Not sure bout the quality yet as i havent drove mine yet.
tysons_2001....y is ur dp josh theodore???![]()
hmm these turbo kits interest me.....anyone got the link for it? i am going in the direction of one of these crs superchargers but if these turbo kits are better bang for buck, i mite change my direction
there will be another bloke selling kits on ebay soon called vpss92. i thought he told me they should be ready for sale in about 6 weks. all made from either 2.5 or 2.8 mm stainless steal. as far as i know they will be mandrel bent, not press bent. he reckons no one will beat his prices. so keep your eye out on there in the next couple of months..
and yeah i wouldn't bother with 3 psi. not really a power increase..
Hey frandy,
Unless you can get the kit second hand for under 1k or get brackets made and fitted and buy the SC14 supercharger from the wreckers it aint worth it. These things are really loud from what people running them say (imagine a jet engine under your bonnet with out the power) so anyone in a 1Kilometer radius will probably know. You can run them on a electronic clutch system so they are only engaged when you want but as soon as a copper opens your bonnet you are soooo screwed (in the deliverence kind of way not good). If you haven't got your car yet. Get something real cheap to run about in. Costs you nothing in fuel or rego little four. When you get off your p's go out and buy a V8.

Hi Guys.
Interesting read....
When i installed mine on my VT, i started at 6pm and started the car at 1:30am....I'm not tooting my own horn, but i'm pretty handy with the tools so that should give you some indication of time...anyone who says less is rushing in my opinion.....the blower is very loud....and because of the nature of the kit, the BOV is always discharging except when you are above 50% throttle.....i must admit, it does sound ok when you are right under it, but at any other time, all it is good for is turning heads. My advice, stay away from these blowers. I am not dissing anyones' kits or anything like that, but in general, the blowers are designed for something half the size of your 3.8 litre V6.
My 2 cents.
different people have varying success with these...
i had one setup on my car, 10psi intercooled & tuned..... ran a 14.0 1/4 mile with no 4th gear (the t5 didn't like the power increase).... that's a tiiny bit quicker than all the recent stock ss gen3's were running...
with a 4th gear, predicted 1/4 time is about 13.5 +- .2 seconds
the thing would wheelspin in all gears in the wet, and comfortably spin both back wheels in 3rd gear doing donuts in the dry....
mind you, this was about the peak potential of the car (unelss i did a cam or so...)
you only get out what you put into it i guess!
but it's true, it was damn loud!... i ended up plumbing my BOV back into my exhaust, and fitting an airbox with a bar-scoop air intake.. this quietened it down a fair bit, but it was still pretty loud!
i happy with how mine is coming along but it has only cost me $300 to get it going at 3-4 psi ( i made everything ). buying a cooler and i have mad a smaller pully thats about 72mm in dia, but they r very loud, like sitting next to a harly at the lights u can hardly hear the bike.

cheers fellas...i think i might be stayin N/A V6 until im off my P's and then maybe gettin a turbo or an upgrade of a car...this is exactly what i wanted to hear in this thread...full credit to u guys![]()
Just speaking from my own experience I think you would be suprised how much difference 2 or 3 psi can make. Other mods aside my ecotec went from 160 to 194rwhp when i fitted the standard CRS kit which on my ute was running about 2.5psi. The biggest improvement i found was the go in the lower rev ranges. They are noisy although running the clutched setup minimises this on the lower boost levels. I run mine now with a smaller pulley and the throttle body repositioned and it sounds quite good, can barely hear it at idle.
