so could some1 plz help me i have a few Q.s first will it even work???? also if yes is it going to be way 2much money?? and is there many mods im going to have to do to the chassi bc i no its not going to just bolt on lol......
cheers LONGY
p.s i no most of u will b likeWHY!!!!!! but im just seeing wat everyone thinks so dont bit my head off
cheers
you wont be able to drive it anyway, way too much money and time to destroy a holden classic
Going where no late model stato/caprice has gone before.... GAME ON!!
Defiantly a weird combo.
Anything can be done with the right amount of time, know how and money
Most of the time yes. Cost out all your stuff and then triple it and you will be getting into the ball park.
Probably not a huge amount of chassis mods. The Torana engine bay was engineered to take an i6 and the only issue might be height although I'm sure i've seen a few with the RB30 in there. The engine mounts will need to be changed as will the rear gearbox x member (depending on what you use) and maybe the sump.
I'd also change the rear diff (they were junk anyway) and do a modern brake conversion which are commonly available off the shelf.
I won't bite your head off but do wish you would read what you have posted. Learn some grammar and spelling - your post if very difficult to read!
Reaper
mate has an RB30 in his torana, took a bit of time but its there :P
i have seen an rb30et in a lj or lc. looked quite nice in there.. but i woudn't bother.. and what model are you looking at buying
yea im looking at buying a 1979 UC Torana.....Well if i do end up getting the car it will be a long project because i have another car so this will be the project car....
So any other thoughts on the matter any other combo's u guys think would be weird but end up sick as????doesn't have to be a torana or an RB26 i dunno just something different i guess![]()

The most ugliest Torana ever made?....lol. It's a Sunbird...haha.
But jokes aside. Exactly what Reaper said, anything can be done. You just need to evaluate your budget and what you aim to achieve. Sometimes conversions can seem like a good idea but in the long run they may not be very feasible. This is a huge project and if you really enjoy working on cars and have the time and budget to do it then good on you. The downside is that it can be also very frustrating and I'd hate to see this turn you off any future mods or conversions. Many a young lad has gone into a project with starry eyes only to come out at the end very disallusioned and hating cars. Think carefully before you go ahead, and be prepared for it to take a LONG time and have another car to drive in the mean time.
If your keen on UC's (I used to have one with a stroked 308) have a look at Tim's here:http://l67torque.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=85

Sunbird??? The sunbird only came out in 4 cylinder, all the 6 cylinders were Toranas same as the LX which also came out in a Sunbird but were 4 cylinders. Anyway, mine is a Torana!!!
Back on topic, I'm the guy who owns that Torana that Surfwagon linked you to, if you wanna do a Torana drop a V6 in it, relatively easy conversion most parts are available off the shelf and the power to weight ratio is good. To get around P plates go with a N/A V6 anywhere from VN to VY (the ecotec is a bit better for conversions as it is a smoother engine) and then once you get off the P plates put a L67 supercharged V6 in and do some mods to that. That's what i did, i had the choice of a 253 or a V6 conversion, wasn't allowed a 308 on P plates, so i went for the V6. Main reason was i could just get in and start it and drive it, no messing aroung with a carbied engine that doesn't like cold starts, fuel economy and the power is there when you need it!
When it came down to it, stock for stock the V6 would eat a 253 anyday of the week and would also give the carbied 308's a run for their money.
Your choice, but the V6 is a very good proposition in a Torana.
If you want anymore info dont hesitate to ask.
Hi, i removed the heater box for clearance issues with the supercharged V6 as you mentioned but it was also removed for asthetic reasons to make the engine bay look neater & smoother. At the moment i dont have a heater/demister but there is a self contained heater box that can be bought that just sits under the dashboard and plums up to the demister tubes. At the moment its not really a concern as the car is only a weeknend car and only goes out on nice sunny days, so i make do with exhaust heat, lol. One will be fitted in the near future though, but it did have a heater for engineers!
Mate stick a 308 in there, only way to go. Piss that 6 off quick smart
LOL!! You are one of the exact people i love blowing away with my V6!
A super6 would kill a 253 or 308 any day.
However my HZ ute (253/supra 5 speed) cleans up most stock V6's.
But mate if you want to have a loud mean rumbling V8 go for a 308 or 304, if you want smooth, sleeper style power and efficiency go for an L67 super6.
My opinion ne ways.
or stick with straight 6 till you get of your p's and then drop in an injected 5 litre.......
blah.
it's a torana, it needs 8 cylinders
(of course, not to undermine Tim's torana - cause that's just a beast!!)
maybe an LS1/LS2?
that would be like an instant 11 second car... with massive potential....
i wonder if one of those motors would fit in the bay? and wonder how the chassis rails would go with the pipes?
and of course with the cost involved, you'd most likely be well off your p's when finished
hehe
