I have recently read on that 'other' forum that there have been issues arising with the fitment of heavy duty valve springs on the V6. There have been cases in the States after fitting them that it causes premature wear on the timing chain tensioner after about 20 000kms. To overcome this, the guys over there have been fitting double row timing chains, removing the balance shaft and also eliminating the tensioner. This causes slight vibration under 1800 rpm but no problems have been found with that yet. To get more info go here http://forum.s treetcommodores.com.au/showthread.php?t=8467662&highlight=tensioner

how frickin heavy duty are the springs they use?
<davy> remember when braveheart came out and everyone said you can't have mel gibson playing a scottish guy cuz it wont be realistic?
<davy> well look at him now

They mustn't want their valves to fall out.....
lol there actually not too heavy duty, but heavier than standard..
but yea a very interesting read that.. amazing how just removing the balancing shaft only really effects idle conditions, but not reving.. wonder how long running the engine without it, will last.. i guess same as the valve springs, only time will tell
