no because the charger will be just recycling air that is in the piping already. its just goes around and around.....

Ok. Have a look at darons pics of his setup on page 7 in this thread, whats the difference between the ata cooling affecting it so much?

[ If you dont beleive me that's fine but i prefer to beleive major manufactures like toyota, bmw, jaguar, GM, ford and the like they have much more experience in building cars and engines than you or me. Find me one major manufacturer that make a factory positive displacement supercharged car that does not have a bypass system. the answer is you will not.

Go buy the book supercharged! by corky bell you will learn a lot more than what the internet will ever teach you.

Yeah i understand the principles, but conflicting outcomes id like to guess what mine will be, and plan ahead. I wasnt trying to disprove nothing just curious as to why different outcomes. Hehe or find the book on the net

The thing you guys have to realise with darons is he has a MAF sensor. Daron you make 233kw with the setup on page 7? no cooling? how much boost are you running?
Another thing TB should aways be mounted on the inlet side of compressor. so you dont end up with a build up of pressure. It's better to have sucking against a closed throttle then psuhing against a closed one.

i'm suprised you dont suffer from a heap of detonation running that boost without some form of cooling. These are fairly ineffecient chargers probably around the 60% rating

what sort of cross sectional area would a bypass valve need to be in order to have the desired effect?

Would it be possible to use an electric solenoid sort of valve setup running off a microswitch on the TB so that when its at idle it opens and equalises pressure across the blower? (just a thought cause thats the only time I need any sort of change to how it runs)

ok can you maybe rephrase this for me a little better as i;m trying to understand what your point is about intercooling.

On a side note
Nothing i say in this thread is meant to be offensive I am trying to help you guys acheive the best setup possible.

Wow totally missed this post. 30mm would be suffiecent. Yes the solenoid setup by your theory would work.

The point i'm trying to make about bypass is they have a lot more to offer than making your idle properly...

I had come across the symptoms of the charger sucking against the tb butterfly before, but it seems to happen more on ata cooler setups. Darons seemed to be a good example cos i didnt need to go back many pages to find a pic. But his setup is the same as a few of are doing but with ata coolers.

ok problem was probably accenuated by having a larger area/volume to fill on the outlet side of the charger. It seems strange to me that daron doesn't suffer many problems. THe only thing i can put it down to without seeing it in person is him running a MAF sensor which measures air flow compared to the map sensor which measure pressure
