Default Where the f@#k is this bellmouth thing

I am looking at a lot of options to mod my V6 (Buick so called).
All I have heard is "remove the bellmouth".
So on my research I have read and read and bloody read about this bellmouth...
WHERE THE HELL IS IT?
I know the pros/cons etc but cant find the damn thing.
I feel like a dick, something so so so so so so simple....not in a 'thinking outside the square' mood right now.
WHERE IS IT???????????????????????????????????????????????? ???????????????

Between the throttle body and plenum. The TB has to come off to get at it

It's between the plenum and the throttle elbow.

Don't bother removing it, for the small effort involved, the gains are almost worthless. I thought the same thing (that it would give me good gains) then after Airstrike and several others told me it would be more of a placebo effect if any, they were right. My car actually seemed to have better throttle response with the bellmouth IN. As removing it, leans out the 2 rear cylinders a little.

If you were supercharging your car, you would definantly take it out.

It just makes you think it feels quicker because it idles like a 454 with an ignition lead off one cylinder. Some people have experimented with modifying the bellmouth, but unless you can pay for dyno time or spend tons of time with a G-Tech we'll never know what works the best.

It is worth taking out if you are adding forced induction, ive taken mine out because of super charging, if you dont take it out it adds resistence. But if your just taking it out to see if it gains you power dont do it, it was put in to flow better air to a few cylinders thats why it helps idle.

I suggest cutting the thing in half, and leaving the bottom part in but taking a dremel to the top part. That way it still does its job (evenly distributes air to all cylinders) but by cutting the top part out you are giving an extra 2-3mm for air to flow through (yes, it does taper slightly).

Yep ^^^ That's generally the only way you will get some sort of gain from it at all.
