Default Aftermarket MAF for Alloytec

Hey guys,
I'm looking into intake mods for my 190 alloytec in my VZ. I'm currently fitting a mcai, and looking at modifying the mouth of the airbox similar to the '2-hole mod' but going as big as possible.
My question is:
Is it possible to fit an aftermarket MAF sensor (possibly a capa unit or similar)?? Will i need to re-calibrate it, or will i get away with a straight swap?? The MAF on the alloytec seems really restrictive in terms of surface area, and if i'm openning up the rest of the intake, i'd like the MAF to flow well too.
Cheers

99% certain you would require a retuen if you put a larger MAF sensor on it. not sure how there going with the alloytec PCM but from what i understand it's still a bit of a mystery for tuning purposes

Yeah i spoke to a guy today who does a heap of tuning and performance gear here in nz and he was saying it wasnt worth the cost for such small gains.
Also asked if there was a mafless tune available yet (they use vcm suite), but he said he hadnt heard of anything.
Was looking at the ss inductions billet items for mafs, as you retain the stock sensor, but replace the housing components either side (getting rid of the mesh in place of a smooth machined surface). These are only for ls1 and later though, alloytec maf seems a lot different.

To be honest you be nuts to change the MAF, it flows more than you might think and certainly is not an area for gains. Go for VCM tune to optimise motor if you like an get an extra 20hp or so but otherwise you will be wasting money like a drunk at the pub
