starting problem

Its been a while since I've posted but anyway...

Lately when I've been starting my car when the engine is cold its been sounding nearly as if it was choking. There is a small lag from when I hear it spark to when the engine actually starts.

What could the problem be?

when you say you hear it spark, what do you mean?

lols i didnt know what the correct termanology was. when i turn the key, there is a SOUND like i would hear when normally starting an engine but it pauses for half a second or so before starting
