My turbo component list
Been doing my research for about 2 weeks now and in tis ive come up with a list. Let us know what else i'll need
t3-t4 turbo, 38mm external wastegate, screamer pipe, cross over pipe, dump pipe, custom turbo manifold, oil feed and return lines ,sump, new pod filter, maf sensor, all vac lines needed, adjustable blow of valve, and exhaust and intercooler
this will be running 4-6psi for now.. will this be possible on a stock tune or will need to get the mecal re programed

Don't ever think you can get away with turbo on a stock tune, disaster is waiting for you.
A further point, thats a massive amount of stuff to get if only planning to run 4 - 6psi, why not factor in a tune and go for 9 - 10psi, a LOT more bang for the buck than the 4-6 thing which might actually cost you a motor using a stock tune.

if your turbo'ing a standard ecotec, u wont wanna push more that 6psi thru her, or u'll throw a piston thru the block. yes i know it mostly depends on the tune, but anything over approx 6psi on a stock block, as per most ppl's experience, ur asking for a problems.
the buicks ran lower compression from factory, so they could get away with pumping more psi into stock blocks, but the ecotec has up'd comp from factory.

The boys at EFI dynamics in lilydale recently finished tuning an internally BOG STOCK (read stock gaskets, everything!!) squeakotec with a 35/40 on 18psi... pulling just on the 300rwkw mark!

If you only want 4-6psi you can go just as fast with a 5L transplant most likely cheaper too, if you were to go to 10+ then that's another story

had a chat to matt from chiptorque at nerang......
which in turn to talked to smart automotive... and recomended
2 Bar (Turbo) Performance Chip $950.00
2 Bar Map Sensor and connector $150.00
Wiring $150.00
Custom Dyno Tuning $750.00
Total $2000.00 (This quote should be accurate if no mechanical issues arise)
and i should upgrade to vt s.c injectors and a larger volume fule pump and i wont need to change the fule reg as its still good and will help on the fuel consumption side of things
Starting a higher paying job soon lets cross the fingers

i think some boosted ecotec guys still manage to run a MAF sensor instead of using a MAP?

You should find out whether the S/C v6 maf sensor is the same as the atmo one....
if so then you should be able to have at least 10psi's worth of air readibility with the stock maf (s/c 6 cars seem to be able to run the 10psi pulleys with no MAF mods/) - maybe even more!
I can't imagine a place that knows what they're doign would charge more than 700 bux odd for a tune to suit turbo, big injectors and maf...
Chances are there's a member on here that would be able to do a tune for you a fair bit cheaper

if you run a MAP sensor, i think you can swap over to a VR wiring loom, that way it makes tuning a lot easier. a MAP sensor should only cost $100 as well
