Also quite interested to know if that ram style inlet manifold could be adapted to fit either of our 3.8 liter engines here.

sure can, have to rotate it 180deg and reposition alternator and such. i have one(with the plastic plenum instead of the alloy one) sitting in the shed atm.

Do you have any idea what the power rating of the motor with that manifold fitted to it in the USA would be?

kw was around the same as the vn motor, torque was up a bit, but cant remember figures. try doing a search for L27 v6 specs.
the worst bit about it is the 50-55mm neck on it, that uses a 50mm throttlebody. i literally cut that off and made up an adaptor for the vn throttlebody, then was persuaded to use a mates ls1-vn adaptor and a ls1 throttlebody. i opened the manifold out to about 70mm

so with a decent TB on it it should go better then that tiny little 50mm TB from factory

hahaha, what a ****er - always knew and had heard stories of how tough the buick engine was, but thats classic.
this old mate of mine used to tell me this story about how they used to have an old beat up VN motor at a farm he worked on that they rigged up as a generator - used to run almost 24/7 and was still kickin after years of abuse.
