Default Vortech Superchargers. Opinions Please

Hey All,

Ive been thinking about putting a Vortech Kit on my VS Calais. However I've heard highs and lows about them everywhere. Pulling rings of pistons giving ridiciulous power etc.

Anyone who actually knows what I am up for if I choose to go through with it if they could share their opinions it would be great. I just basically want to know the risks involved and what should I do to make sure nothing major goes wrong as in Engine, Trans and Drivetrain wise before going through with it.

Opinions????

Cheers
holdenkid

Well what blower were u looking at?
The kits are designed for stock motors so there is no dramas with them at the boost that is recommended, its when you get a tiny pulley turning lots of boost a standard motor wont take it.

Ahh sorry mate I didn't specify I dont wanna go too far maybe just push 10-12 psi of boost. I think the stage 1 kit is like 9psi. But maybe a little more would be nice.

I wouldnt be pushing more than 10psi on a stock motor.
Im only going to run 8psi when mine goes on.
Which blower are you looking at though? Just realised yours is a V6 too, not sure what they can handle

Ahh ok. The Vortech kit actually should run only 7-9psi. The link is below, some info is given on the site but really I would like to know more about the effects of them.

10psi is fine, just make sure it has a decent tune, it's all in the tune really

Its all in the tune and fuel system setup, you will have to go the premium kit there or option up to get bigger injectors and matching memcal, that is the only safe way. The no tune kits are engine suicide sooner than later.
