Smile Alloytec Performance upgrades

Thought I should start a thread for the Alloytec

We are involved with them a bit now so coming across things which may be helpful to others with them.

NA items

Mace manifold insulators
Extractors and exhaust systems from X Force
VCM retune - quite a few tuners doing these

Forced induction

Supercharger systems from Raptor (VZ only) and CAPA (VZ and VE)
Turbocharger systems (not sure who is doing them now, anyone know what happened to MAGIC?)

Transmission

The manuals with the Dual Mass Flywheels have lots of clutch problems, upgrades from Textralia, Daiken and ............. one other.

The Auto's (5speed) seem quite ok at this stage even with boost

Fuel System

The Siemens 450cc injectors are an excellent upgrade to increase fuelling, with these up to 220rwkw can be achieved on stock pump. Full retune needed for successful operation.

Things still missing from the market

Alternative heat range spark plugs
Higher performance coils
Camshaft upgrades?? (is there anything out there)

What else is known about these engines ..............

I thought you could get cooler plugs for the alloytec engines.
Also, its hard to do a camshaft replacement on the alloytec190 because of its Variable valve timing. But the alloytec170, im guessing could have a custom grind alot cheaper than the 190

Tim is absolutely spot on,
from my experience and in my opinion

CAI, no need to go and waste your money on a branded kit, do a search "two hole mod" this is bascially cutting a second hole in the base of your airbox- found it works best.

Headers, I use and recommend pacemakers. I havent used any other brand.

Cats, basically there is 2 different types, metal and ceramic.
cats will change the way your exhaust sounds but be carefull cos sometimes your exhaust may sound worse if you want more flow, but flow is better for the engine in high rpm, metal highflow cats cats are usually 200CPI (cells per inch), and ceramic highflow cats are abour 300CPI - less cells = more flow.

Exhaust, a catback exhaust is really only for the sound, if your expecting noticeable performance gains on the street then you will be dissapointed. when my car was CAI and tune only, i was running with ceramic highflow cats and lukey twin to single 2.5" system, this worked well.
then i upgraded to the X-force full 2.5'' stainless catback system, in my opinion this is a better sounding exhaust.

Supercharger, JUST DO IT

if anyone can find some NGK LTR7AP 11 plugs id love them

Maybe sometime we should contact NGK and see when something additional will be offered for this engine.

being a v6 you will have drone, drop some 3.46's in the rear and that will lift the rpm just that little bit so no drone

check out x-force on ebay - scotts rods - thats where mine came from

youtube - "impulsesv6", some different exhaust sounds there
