Default 3.89's in a vr

I'm gonna finlayy be putting my locker in soon and am also going to be changing diff gears. I was thinkin bout 3.89 ratio. Its going in my V6 ute just wanted to see who's had em and what they thought bout the differnce to a V6's acceleration and how drivable etc.

Probably a bit much for a manual mate. Most people stick to 3.45's or 3.7's at the most for manual.

I have 3.9's but in an auto so driveability isnt as much of an issue.

hmm i was hoping it would be at like the far end of drivable perhaps a lil too far? 3.7's was my original idea but then i changed my mind

had 3.9s behind auto, then behind manual... auto was perfect! nice and quick and still good for cruising. but behind a manual i found it to be way too short (i.e revs out too quick).

I have 3.45 now and its a perfect balance of acceleration and cruising behing a manual v6.

if you want to be able to light the bags up easily and hold 2nd gear slides 3.9 would be perfect! but higher speed cruising will suffer a fair bit.

-good balance- go 3.45 or 3.7
-for "having fun" 3.9s.. and i have even heard of a VS manual with 4.11!! stuff that! lmao

My mate had a set of 3.0's in his vn v6, took it out one night on my own to go pick him up after work and i have to say that sort of gearing is only good for off the mark acceleration. If you plant the foot at 100km/h a bog stock vn will beat you....

Depends what you want if you want an all rounder go 3.45-3.7 MAX.

the one with the 3.7 diff gears will beat a stock vn, shorter gears will make acceleration at any speed quicker. it will just have a lower top speed
