Default VH 6Cyl Conversion To v8

    Hi,
im sure you guys have got this question a thousand times but im new so im gonna ask,
    Can i put a holden red/blue/black v8 253 or 308 into a VH,a 6cyl VH?
i know i can but what modifications do i need?
will the engine fit straight in?
do i need a new crossmember or sump?
do i need a chassis strenthener kit?

these sort of questions i would like to know

i Love the tough look of VH but i already have too many 6cyl,and 6cly for obvious reasons are cheaper then the v8 version so , before i purchase either a 6cly or a v8 version just want to know how much work and $$$ is involved to convert.

    Any Help will be appreciated

    Aaron

u will need v8 front springs, v8 gearbox, bellhousing etc. engine mounts (plus others this is basically all i know)
u cant put a red motor in a vh cuz its from an earlier model. blue is fine (they came with em) black should be fine (they're from the vk im pretty sure).
buying all 2ndhand stuff could get it done for $1000 give or take a bit

You cant put a red motor in a vh as they are a pre polution engine and the vh is a polution vehicle! To do a conversion the doner engine MUST be of the same year or later than the car it is going into! You will need everything that a v8 car had so my advice is to buy a smashed v8 vh and transfer all the parts you need. You will need an engine, trans, tailshaft, diff, radiator, exhaust etc. etc. If you buy a complete smashed car you will get everything you need to do the job and you know it is all the same year as the car. You dont need a body strenghthening kit as the vh came out with a v8 from the factory, hope this helps!

hey arron brett mate im doing the same thing now i got a vk just bought a vl 5ltr for the running gear mate EXAMPLE if the motor is earlyer then your car no you cant use it being a vh you need a blue 253/308 for the pollution gear your better off looking for a whole car so you can get the full running gear and brakesd and shit like that off the other car look around for a vl and up

My VH started life as a 6 but its now got a VL 308. I had to get all the running gear from the VL to pass RWC. Loom was modified by an auto elec. but other than that its a fairly striaght forward conversion but the amount of ****s and knobs i had to buy nearly killed me.
    The things we love, hey?
