Hi Everyone, this is my first post here.
I have been doing some searching for weeks and cant find a definate answer.

Im doing a v8 on conversion on an old jaguar ( dont hate on me yet!) I love the shape of them but hate the engine and tranny in these. Hence Im converting it to a more reliable and powerful GM engine:surprise:

I have a conversion kit to suit a 350 chev and t700, I want to know if LS1 engines and 5lt engines have the egine mounts in exactly the same location or if they are slightly different.

As i would prefer to use a more modern engine with EFI for the conversion as apposed to and older 350.

Any help or advice would be so greatly apreciated or if you know or have done a similar conversion.

Thanks
Vince

5ltr and LS1 have totally different mounts. Not sure about the 350chev. I think the 350 is similar to the 5ltr.

Hi,
Its a 74' XJ6 SWB

Thanks everyone for the info. Looks like ill have to get a 350 chev and just run it on straight gas so I can meet emmision laws. Unless I run EFI and and EFI gas system. The emmisions is a bit of a grey area that I need to look into further.

Sorry for my ignorance, But is TPI chev a tuned port inject chev? Like from a latemodel camaro z28 or similar?

i was always under the impression that the LS1 was the same cast as 350, but I guess im wrong on that one!

I got the kit of another guy for a few hundred bucks - he paid over 1800 for the whole kit with springs and tail shaft so it was worth it. The engine mounts suit a 350 chev so it would be good to use them because they are really well made mounts.

For the love of god, don't run it on gas...I mean, seriously, whats the point?

Yes, a TPI Chev is tuned port injection as found in later model Camaros & Corvettes. That would be the best engine for the job, considering you already have everything to slot a Chev in.

The only thing LS1 and Small Block Chev share is the bellhousing bolt pattern, everything else is different :)

It's fine if you own a Ford 6 cylinder taxi.....But it's a waist of a perfectly good Chev running it on gas. :p

but why? is there really that much of a power difference between petrol and gas?
