Default V8 with super/turbo charger fuel consumption?

    Hey guys,

(searched all over and can't find this for the life of me)

Still on my P's but when I go on opens I'm hoping to get a V8 and if i crap money I'd turbo/supercharge it.

I was just curious what the fuel consumption is on a charged V8? (model type regardless, just looking for a round figure)

Thanks alot for any help guys

If you have to ask about such things you can't afford it. Anything like that is going to use heaps - probably 20+ L/100 km if you do it right.

If you're going to drive it like you stole it all the time, your fuel consumption will be through the roof (regardless of which FI you choose). I live in the country so don't see bugger all traffic, but when I head down to Melb I see around 16-18L/100 (avg speed 30-40km/h). Highway/freeway driving I get low 9s. 'Spirited' driving I have seen 55-60L/100.

That's an instantaneous reading over a short period of time. But yes, it's a lot of fun nonetheless. I only drive the car once or twice a month so fuel consumption isn't really an issue.

Centrifugally blown while crusing on an otherwise stock engine should be better on fuel than in n/a form due to a better VE obviously if you hammer it will use more fuel.

If your worried about fuel consumption keep it stock, cause if you turbo/supercharge it your going to put your foot down every now an then and there goes your fuel consumption.

I doubt any car would use 55litres per 100.. It would stable out say even if you were sitting on 200k's per hour..
Ive got my mums XR6 usage upto 70litres per 100.. but that was a sprint out to 100 or so..

Apparently cruisen on the highway you will see better fuel econ with a turbo/super charger..
around town would use more fuel then a stock car..

My hwy/fwy economy is no different to when my car was just cammed. Mild traffic it's the same too (avg 30-40km/h). I don't see city traffic to compare stop/start consumption though.

Well... Being as a supercharger increase the engines V/E it shouldn't really make much difference.

Fuel consumption is directly related to power output.
More energy is consumed/transformed when you want to go faster. Forced induction should theoretically achieve a greate power with better economy then an equivelent naturally aspirated motor.

Only with supercharger not turbo. As boost is not being produced when driven at a constant speed like a centrifugal supercharger. While crusing the turbo is doing nothing. It is however creating slight backpressure which would normally not be part of the system and will cause slightly greater fuel consumption.
