I keep coming back to the Pavtek site to drool over this motor.
Is it just me or would you have to spend a shedload more than $6400 to farm the same work out yourself and probably not get a warranty?

You could probably get it done for around the same price. A 304/308 - 355 stroker kit is only $2k from Pro-stroke, its labour that will be the deciding factor.

I'd say it's good buying, but i wouldn't say it's a "bargain". It's about the right price for a long motor 355, after all that's no intake or anything.
Anybody know what crank they use?
Reaper
SCAT i believe. Although, i'm pretty sure they used to use Harrop.
So it is just me then?
Surely the warranty is pretty rare? If you bought the bits and farmed out the labour wouldn't you have no come back if it went bang?

and it deffinatly wont be coming with that manifold pictured

I cant see anything on the warranty? what is it? It would be very limited i'd say as to what they cover

The warranty is 20,000K's or 12 months and the only limitation is on parts failure not related to their work, ie parts not supplied by them. (I couldn't find the info on the website either so I phoned them to ask) as far as installation and servicing goes, it's a crate engine, they don't expect to install it for you and as the dude I spoke to said "Who spends this kind of money on an engine and then skimps on an oil change?"
It'd be pretty obvious if you cooked it I reckon, but again If you bought one wouldn't you treat it like gold?

Hold on, so if something inside the engine fails, there is no warranty? Not much is covered by the warranty then really...
hmm true it seem like no warranty at all. From what you say it seems like the warranty is from the parts manufacturer themselves not Pavtech. For example a new oil pump failure. But then whod cover your destroyed motor from no oil pressure?
Really i would say they should cover any faults in the machining/building related. I.E. bearing failure due to improper cleanrances or the like.
I wonder if the engines are tested before sale. Do they cover startup failures?
As the saying goes the warranty isnt worth the paper its written on
EDIT: Lol your username is rather apt![]()

soz: independant observer here.
you were saying "is this or is this not a bargain" and one of your major points was the warranty
others have stated that there are HUGE holes in their warranties and that the engine is priced about average. so no need to defend. you get what you pay for. this engine will be better than a procomp equivalent, but still no one is perfect.
