    Default 253 question

    well I got a 253 and auto the other week and im gonna put it in a Humber vogue

    and just wanted to know what I should do to tuffen it up a little b4 i drop it in

    any advice is appreciated

    I don't have any experience with v8's so I don't really know where to start

    being a 60s english car id say it would be pretty tough as it is ,i mean chassis wise as they used alot thicker steel in those days. A mate of mine has got a datto 120y coupe (burnout car) that had a 308 auto in it and that wasnt strengthened and didnt break anything even had the 120y diff in it without breaking it.

    i have no doubt ill blow the diff but yeah there pretty tuff little cars the way they where built
    i also got told a hr disc front end will bolt straight in to

    the usualy stuff, cam, intake manifold, extractors, heads (dont go bigger valve), compression etc.

    I have alot of stuff, cam, lifters high performance gasket set etc etc from a still birth build if interested.

    New old stock St2 heatseeker cam and lifters to suit $150, new unopened High performance ACL gasket set (253 head gasket specific) $150 also have a very good clean non assembled red pollution heads $100, what else do you need?

    Just go buy a 308 and be infront from the get go?

    Well you asked how to make the 253 better.
    Drop it in the drink and stick a 308 in.

    You wont make a 253 go as hard as a stock 308 would for the same money. All you'll do is rip the top of a piston.

    lol. soop u can make a tough 253. it just costs a shit load of money. my dad had a mint 1 in a hq wags

    ari what year was the pre poultion heads on? like hq/hj/hz etc
    cos i got some motors lying around man, (not the one that was sitting in the rain, haha)

    I can't seem to justify all this talk that it costs more, both 253 and 308, aside from pistons and rings and head gaskets, use ALL THE SAME PARTS.

    FFS we are talking 55CID not 155...

    Anyway not here to thread steel and argue who's got the bigger dick.
