    Default 308 stipped down

    hey all
    ive got my spare 308 pulled down and am going to acid bath the block, heads and intake manifold!
    What type of acid do they use to do this????

    yeah ikno but ive got stainless tubs and safety gear to do it all. just dont wana pay hundreds for it to be done thats all! bit of a tightarse at the mo! with my conversion underway...need all the spare coin i can get

    No probs, it shouldnt cost a couple of hundred for a machine shop to do it, not much really, no idea what sort of acid they use. But AFIK they dont acid dip any alloy parts as it will eat away at the alloy, alloy components get hot tanked!!

    Just as a heads up it's probly not the kind of acid you used to trip out of your head on as a teenager.

    use hydrochloric acid at my old work no doing alloy as it eats it its easier and cheaper with no mess just to pay $80 to get someone else to do it

    haha nah mate ive got tubs and toxic/hazardous disposal cylinder tanks at my workshop so disposal isnt an issue! $90 thats ok then...i havent rung around for prices as yet so if i can get it done 4 under 100 ill go get it done by someone else
