    Default 5.0L operating temps

    hey!
just wanting to know what is the average coolant/water operating temps on the 5.0L efi mtr?
My 308 was fitted with a new temp sender and always read about 1/3 on the temp gauge (dash cluster).
And now that i have my 5.0L fitted to the same car,new temp sender, same dash cluster, the temps read off the scale and with the twin thermos runnig!
    Has anyone else experienced this????
    cheers

can you touch the top radiator hose without getting third degree burns?

if so your sender is probably the wrong resistance, just swap it back for you old one if you can.

i think its lower resistance=higher readout.

cos if u earth the sender wire on the motor (no resistance) the needle goes right off the gauge

4 banger turbos with bov's will just cry when they hear it, because they can never have it.

funny u say this coz ive been having similar issues my 5l vr reads around 3/4 on the temp gauge constantly so i changed the sender and still no different so i put in an after market guage plumbed into the top radiator hose and it reads 88 degrees all the time so would i be right in assuming there is a problem with my cluster guage???

hmm its got me thinkin that its the sender as the dash cluster was fine with the old 308 (cant find the old sender dammit!) now that the new 5.0L motor is in my VH its up the sh!t. is your 5.0l in the VR? or a different car? may just go to bursons and be done with it!! my new sender i fitted was the tridon brand!

Just my 2cents but the 304 has 2 temp senders, one for the computer one for the dash maybe they are different? does the 308 take one of these or completely different again?

the manifold mounted senders are the same from vb through to vr, thread size the same too! unless u run a performer manifold like i had on my 308 u will need to fit a bushing that threads into the manifold then the sender threads into it

ahh not too sure on the part numbers, SCA, autobarn and bursons have them readily available. shouldnt be hard to source a new one. they are all the same from vb to vr or vs
