    Default Help How To Install Drive/Fan Belts In A Vr SS Commodore V8

    Hi Guys

    Just wondering if anyone out there would know as I can't find anywhere on this forum as how to install drive/fan belts on a vr ss v8 either be it by diagrams or by explanation all tips will be of greatful help.

    Well to get the PS belt on I always get it on the PS pully just a bit then crank the engine to get it to pull itself on.

    As for how they run im not sure VR but VN ive got them going like this,

    1st belt, crank -> water pump -> alternator
    2nd belt, crank -> water pump -> PS
    3rd belt, crank -> idler pully -> AC

    Well thats how I remember them, since now ive only got a need for the first belt.

    Just a tip. Its all so much easier to do if you pull out the clutch fan, shroud and radiator. Makes for a good opportunity to back flush the radiator, replace hoses and fill her up with fresh coolant too.

    Just replaced the radiator on my VT, bit different i know cause VT has thermos... but the clutch fan on a Vr can be a pain too. I bit the bullet and replaced all belts while the front of the engine bay was clear
