    Default Ls3 6.2l

    Hi Guys,

    I'm currently on my green P's with 2 and a half years until I can go to a V8 anyway I'm planning on doing a engine conversion

    Was thinking about getting a LS3 6.2L create engine and doing a few performance mods i.e roller rockers, cam etc... might also eventually supercharge but time will tell.

    Was also thinking of running with a T56 6 speed but also let me know what you think

    I'm not really sure on what's best and that but what would u guys suggest?... you guys might also suggest that i get a second hand engine and trans but idk just give me some suggestions and your opinions

    Yeah but if I sell my vy and buy another I'm gonna want to do the same things to the engine, anyway changing and modding cars is why I'm apart of just commodores

    yeah fair enough you want to mod it. but id budget 30k. maybe more depending on how far you take it.

    It's not all about motor. An SS will have different interior etc. Anything is possible if you throw enough money at it though.

    how far would that 30k get me? I've seen ls3 create engines going for bout 5k then I assume is need a new trans, diff, bigger brake booster etc etc, and then also gotta get it a mod plate and that but I have no idea how much an engineers cert is haha

    Yeah I understand that the interior is different but that's slowly changing 2, wanting to get a new cluster, leather seats, steering wheel and all that

    Sigh it's not about that mate. I have seen VY SS's go for 8k now. Why spend all the time effort and money on making a 6 an 8 is all.

    So, you're going to turn it into an SS....
    5k for motor.
    5k for gearbox
    1k for diff
    1k for wiring
    10k for supercharger setup.
    You've also got fueling, brakes, exhausts and other fun things to deal with.

    Ok for starters this was a thread about what I should do performance wise to a ls3 so back on subject please

    Secondly its a project guys, I love my car and its not about money... I have money, its all just apart of the fun

    You could always go all out like this guy - fully built blown LS series VY SS .

    LOVE to know where you guys are finding LS3 motors for 5K. I've only seen them for 7K or there abouts.

    The way I see it:

    7K for LS3
    4K for a box to suit
    2K for all misc components needed for conversion
    1.5K for diff
    500 for tailshaft
    2K Exhaust
    500 for OTR
    1K Tuning

    So 18500 for a EXEC with a mild LS3 in it.

    Plan B,

    Sell Exec = 4K in pocket.

    But VY SS for 15K... less the 4K we got for Exec puts us at 11K spend already.

    Spend 7.5K on Cam, exhaust, OTR, tuning and you have yourself a fairly angry VY SS.

    Each to their own I guess but it doesn't quite make sense to me putting a LS3 in an EXEC of all things.

    I was just going by the price he said. Im for the SS idea myself.

    like i said to you m8 if you really love you car that much do it. otherwise your better off selling it and startin with a new car, but.. end of the day your looking at very very similar money either way, most ppl know ive just spent big money on mine doin an ls3 conversion but i still got alot more to go...still need a new built trans, diff and new brakes to support all the power now thers another 10k+ so yes, either way your going to go, u need atleast 25-30k to be done right...

    you wanna do this once..and you wanna do it right the first time
