looking to put 286 crane cam in stock 304 planning to take 60th off heads get shims for rockers , its got 3000 hi stall 4.11 gears it runs 8.8 over the eighth now so its a pretty healthy stock motor. it will only be used for local drag meets and accosional beach lap so not concerned about fuel economy .main area is what manifold to use and throttle body. or go back to carby setup. any opinions would be appreciated i can burn my own memcals and have got a few cammed tunes on pc.as i said its 95% for racing over the eight mile cheers
stock manifold will choke it before the cam has reached it's rpm potential. Can't really get enough comp to suit it either by just skimming the heads

thanks for reply vn driver but like most lets say 85 90 % you have no idea what you are talking about. on here its all 3rd and 4th hand . but i will use the 286 with a stock motor and see where it takes me. because as ive found on here theres a cpl of ppl that think they know all but in actuall fact they know #### all and when they get challenged they pick up there bat and ball and go home sooking or work there best to get you banned now i will back my mouth up here and say my car will go faster with the 286 . anyone that wants to prove me wrong lets here it.because ive got time slips real time slips not pissant handheld gtech fffs' and i will post b4 and after so all the knockers are gunna fall flat on there asses like i said some ppl that sell tunes on here claiming this and that got proved wrong well where are they today mmmmmmmmmmmmmm sitting at home sooking one thing i can do is back my self up unlike the eddy the experts on here and again you know who you are////////////////
ok, um i will prove you wrong. i have a crane 286 in my 308. 10.7:1 comp ratio and still starving for CR. no amount of shaving the heads is even gonna get you close.
and lose the attitude dude, or you may as well just go f**k yourself. AFAIK immortality just gave you good advice. if you choose not to listen, then keep your smart mouth to yourself and just go fit the damn thing.
Wow... Somebody trying to cover up their sexuality or something...
You talk about your car like it is a weapon... When in truth, It's a baby. Your motor even with what you want to do is close to stock and you are still possibly..
Whats that word? Starts with a G? sometimes a H? depending on how proper you are...
P.S- A 1/8th slip is worth about as much as a used condom

Ok I lied. WTF bother asking for an opinion and then coming out with all that rubbish??? Immortality was bang on the money. I should add that for a manifold you will need something like a highrise single plane for the drags and a 1000cfm tb should do the trick. Edelbrock does one that plugs straight into the delco ecu. EFI parts in Mitcham (Victoria) make their own one too. The problem you have is a lack of compression and you will need valve springs and roller rockers to keep up with the revs. Thanks for reply vn driver but like most lets say 85 90 % you have no idea what you are talking about. on here its all 3rd and 4th hand . but i will use the 286 with a stock motor and see where it takes me. because as ive found on here theres a cpl of ppl that think they know all but in actuall fact they know #### all and when they get challenged they pick up there bat and ball and go home sooking or work there best to get you banned now i will back my mouth up here and say my car will go faster with the 286 . anyone that wants to prove me wrong lets here it.because ive got time slips real time slips not pissant handheld gtech fffs' and i will post b4 and after so all the knockers are gunna fall flat on there asses like i said some ppl that sell tunes on here claiming this and that got proved wrong well where are they today mmmmmmmmmmmmmm sitting at home sooking one thing i can do is back my self up unlike the eddy the experts on here and again you know who you are////////////////
BTW - I'm talking from 20 years first hand experience with Holden V8's. Enough for you??? There is plenty of rubbish posted on this forum but there are also some *very* knowledgeable people who post here too. Immortalitiy is one of them.

Unreal. Just ignore the negative comments guys and gals. I don't want to believe that some Aussies have this mentality and throw sh*t at your fellow neighbour that provides good free advice in a forum medium like this that allows access for thousands of true enthusiasts. Next thing I'll probably hear is that some one has a cam tune that will fight climate change. I've read enough BS here from the belligerent members and am trying not to imagine them talking in a whinnie high pitch nasal voice.
The Crane 286 is a great cam upgrade from the stock unit and will be restricted by the bunch'o'bananas manifold and stock exhaust. IMO a TqPwer hi-rise dual plane is great for the street and the single plane is ultimate for the strip. Match that with port work on the heads and a decent exhaust (eg Pacemakers, etc) and you will no doubt find increased efficiency and power gains. Shaving the heads on a V8 can lead to inlet manifold sealing issues if not done correctly or milled too far. Carby or EFI doesn't matter. Make up your own mind if you prefer "eprom burner" or "screwdriver" to tune the fuel side of things.
Can someone close this thread please. I don't appreciate seeing someone leave themselves open to get slagged for being stupid (albeit intentional). Maybe he's catty because the BF stole his handbag or something...
