ive got my hands on a 3/71 blower with 4 barrel adapter and all the pulleys, would this suit my 253 with 308 heads or would i destroy the motor? ive heard the crank could snap easily? would i be able to just bolt it on or to much money and work involved? cheers
lol. well.... give it a go.
stocK 253? what year? obviously not your vk cos they didnt come out in vk's. the length of the snout correct for your intake? whats your CR? what cam? etc etc

I've turbo'ed stock 253 and 308 engine no worries, stay sensible and good tuning, retension the cylinder heads before you start.
3x71 = 213ci smaller than your motor capacity but it still might work if you overdrive the #### out of it

what other damage can i do? does the carb need to be anything special or can i use my 600 holley?
Nuthin if you draw through, you will need to manage the ignition timing, boost retard.

so its not just a matter of bolting the blower on tomorrow and way u go is it

now stop being a pussy AND BOLT THAT SUCKER ON!!! :P
just tried fitting it all up, gona take alot of work to make it fit, the blower needs to come forward about 2inches, might just flick it off, i also have power steering which wont work there will be no room. BUGGER
dude. SELL ME THAT BLOWER!!!!!
(pretty please) i have a SBC itll bolt right onto easy as pie.
On a Buget, weld up the mechanical advance, start around 15 degrees static (also total) and fit the blower.

have been offered a swap for a tunnel ram setup for 308, is this worth a straight swap?
3/71 blower with 350chev manifold and all the pulleys FOR a cain tunnel ram with 2 450 holleys
does this sound like a resonable swap? or should i hold on to my blower?
I'd go the tunnel ram...that's just me tho. Rekon those manifolds go for about $1000-$1500, sometimes can find them cheaper if ur lucky.

VK Wagz 253 Twin Turbo - [Buildup Thread]
VK Wagz EFI 5.0L 5spd - [Buildup Thread]
TECH: VK EFI Conversion - Fix your dead EFI 5L ignition module - Trimatic shift kit
whereas a blower will cost you 4 grand...
I'd mabye swap the blower set up for a DECENT manifold and carb (if the blower definately won't fit that is), unfortunately, a tunnel ram isn't a decent manifold (for a street car). If you're going to have a hole in your bonnet, make it for a blower.
i am still trying to have a crack at fitting this blower, the crank pulley is not gona fit at all could i use a gilmer drive pulley on the crank or are they completley differant?
you just need to get a snout for it. what brand is it? part number?
i can make a spacer for the snout thats ok, just the pulley for the crank isnt gona fit (its off a chev) was thinking of just using a gilmer pulley on the crank
??? is it a V-pully, serpentine? i dont understand. swapping the pulley would be easy. gilmers are commonly used, but i dunno where you would get one that length though. itd have to do the crank, alternator and PWR steering. itd have to be huge. maybe look into a later model serpentine belt?
i can use the gilmer power steer part for the alt, crank, water pump just wondering if i can use the bigger part as my blower pulley on the crank?
does anybody know the size of the gilmer pulley thanks
