hey guys well it turns out i couldnt help myself but buy my "daily" a present, i bought a powerdyne supercharger kit off a guy that i know,
now my VS SS is a dead stocker as it was just a run-about, the kit that i bought comes with everything except for bigger fuel pump, injectors and a tuned memcal.
ive got an 044 and 1.5ltr surge tank sitting at home that i could use but ive heard with second gen commodores it would be easier to buy a bigger in fuel pump rather than an external pump, i dont have much knowledge in that area so fire away with any advice/experience you have.
now when it comes to injectors i know the standard 5ltr ones would run out of juice so what do you guys thing would be best suited, noting that this type of charger runs a maximum 9PSI according to the info on CAPA's page.
and last of all, for the tune, i know back in the day on here either doctor bob or delcowizard were doing mail order tunes but havnt seen much of them around for a while, does anyone know if theyre still doing them and if so what are they worth?
thanks in advance for any help
Going where no late model stato/caprice has gone before.... GAME ON!!
hey mate, standard injectors would run out around 250rwkw, so they may not need to be changed on a dead stocker, if ud like, id go some siemons 600cc injectors, or anything around those lines
as for fuel pump, its easiest to replace the "in line" with an aftermarket one, i suggest a bosch 044 as if you later decide to mod it more, itll already have the nice big pump, and theyre only 30 bucks more than the cheaper less power rated pumps.
as for tune, get it done by ANYONE you can get with a good reputation for working with boost, as you'd most likely know its the most vital part...
im no expert, but im turbocharging my vt 304 and through my reserch and seeaking to most performance shops in melb, hope it helps mate
also, may be an idea to talk to capa, as theyd sell these parts to suit the kit??
thanks for the reply mate, yeah the pump i have is an 044, just thought it might have been overkill for a charger running small boost, and as for injectors im not sure how much power i will end up with, capa's site reckon 300kw but i reckon thats a bunch of shit really, i dont reckon it will get near that to be honest

Your reading about the Vortech supercharger on the CAPA website and not the powerdyne one.
The Vortech makes 310KW running 10PIS boost.

yeah you would probably be looking more 250-270 rwhp depending on any other mods you make the stock injectors are 19lb the gts blue tops are 24lb and the v6 supercharged white ones are 36lb there a good choice because they give you a little more room to move and can be found cheap if you look on ebay USA. If you do a few searches im pretty sure some one was making a new impelor for the powerdynes making it posible to make a little more boost but i belive they have a issue with shreding there internal belt when pushed hard
