What's wrong with pulling them out of the box and putting them straight in? I have been told by heaps of people that the days of gapping spark plugs is well and truly gone.

I always check the gap, everynow and then 1-2 can be out. Remember they have been make in china, shipped to australia, then trucked to the shop......knocked all over the joint.....

Most mechanics do just put them in without checking them but most people wanting the most of their car will check the plug gap. It could only take 1 plug to make the engine run bad.
I only use genuine GMH plugs which are either AL Delco or Denzos and are all pregapped and out of 200 odd plugs I think I would be lucky to have had 1 or 2 requiring re gapping.
I used to index my plugs in my blueprinted 202 it used to take bloody ages to do 6 plugs all for a nits doodle if any better performance :)

You should always gap your plugs never put them straight in just in case they have not been manafactured properly use a set of feeler gauges and get yourself a workshop manual would be easiest
