Can anyone please shed some light on what it will take to convert from the oem hydraulic in my 304 to a solid and maybe someone why can tune it in Canberra? Any help would be greatly appreciated
Forgive me for my answer but I would assume if you have to ask then you do not need a solid cam.
I suppose It does look that way. It's just that I have a mate running a solid in a 308 but he didn't build the motor he has about 260 fly kw and I'm looking to go a little bit past that so I assumed
Yeah ok well it is just that there is a whole lot of things that go into it aside from a cam and lifters.
Best bet to look into what sort of motor you need and it's intended purpose first.
Dedicated weekend warrior/ skid pig. (on private roads etc) I'm pretty sick of having lifters pump up on me since I the thing out as far as it goes. Rev limiter at 5500. "anti pump" lifter I have bought havnt even stood up to it I don't know why tho
MAybe your valve springs are flogged out.
FWIW changing to solid cam will mean changing the entire valve train except for the valves to do it properly as well as setting it up correctly.
If you cant open up your cheque book for a proper builder you best to do some more homework on engine building first. JMHO.
Yea I'm thinking about going stroker. I figure why not it need rebuilding. I can see a cloud of smoke come out the back of the car when I really rev it an manual shift. It happens usually right as I shift
