Default Hi all some info on a twin screw charger on a 304ci

    First up my name is
    Lindon
I own a 88 Nissan GQ patrol wagon, which has been fitted with a VS series ( I am lead to believe) 304ci Holden V8 (standard0 other than extractors and a single 3" system with only one muffler
here is a picture of how it was when I got it.

Now the story, in such a heavy vehicle, well lets just say ad twice the weight of your average commodore and you'll start to get an idea, its a slug really, has nothing great under about 3,500 rpm, and only really starts to get you kinda excited at around 4,500 to the limiter ( diffrent story off road)

Now I have the opportunity to grab this

From what I can work out it is am early sprintex (S102345A ) charger which was built as a kit for a Nissan TD42 ( 4.2L diesel engine)

    the charger roughly measures

    330mm long, 220mm wide, 170mm deep

now this kit to fit on to the 304 I would only need to fab mounting brackets, and make away to fit the 8 rib serpentine pulley to the V8 pulley

anyone have much of an idea how or if this charger would work on the 5.0L

keeping in mind here I am not after huge gain and more low end and mid range power with better torque performance, so the idea if feasible, would be a bolt an and see how we go, look at injectors and other bolt on later if needed the engine is running a VQ auto ECU

gonna need a manifold to suit the charger and the intake of the 5L..I have seen people cut up the bunch o banana's manifold for a PD style blower so you could try that! Or maybe give yella terra a call and see what they use with the YT charger kits - they could possibly help with the pulley's aswell

It looks to be similar to the Sprintex charger I used to have on a Landcruiser. Which means there is no need for a manifold as above, because it will suck air through the rear of the supercharger and discharge out the top (just need to get creative with the inlet piping, depending on where its mounted).

The only thing is the size of the supercharger may be pushing it with the size of the engine. 5L is on the upper limit for their superchargers in the way of capacity.

yeaah mate its as the other bloke said, its not a roots type charger, its a stand alone side mount, air in thru the rear and exits via top

Fusionx you are spot on mate it is an early sprintex s102 charger, and you are on the same track i am as i am not sure if it will handle the amount of air, but was running a 4.2L and from what i can work out on the pulleys at about 5psi, as stated not after huge gains more chasing the increased tourqe with a little HP as a bonus, and the way I understand the PD twin screw they produce "x" amount of air per rotation of the helical screws, basically meaning you have the same air flow at idel as you do at top end only difference is the engine and charger are rotating more often per minute, thinks that how it works

    Cheers lindon
