Hey guys ive been told by a performance shop that VCM Cams is the only RECOMMENDED camshaft for the ls1 2 3 engines. Just wondering has anyone got a VCM camshaft what type did you get and what you think?
Rubbish. Plenty of brands of cams out there that work fine in a LSx type engine (or any other for that matter).

Comp Cams are good
Isky cams REPRESENT.
A mate of mine runs a VCM5 FI cam in his turbo SS - it goes well though you have to let the thing warm up before it'll drive like a normal car.
VCM is a australian brand what makes them think that they have the best cam when we have only had the motor over here for 10ish years while america on the other hand have had this motor in cars a sh*t load longer and done a lot more development on cams ect
so for my 2cents go with an american brand like COMP, lunati ect
If in doubt......FLOOR IT!!!
I have a VCM cam in my LS3 and found it excellent for it's intended application. That said - in no shape or form would they be the only alternative.

I am no way talking you out of their products but there's way to many cam manufacturers to even recommend.
All I can say choose whats right for you!!
If I knew VCM was Australian I would have bought one of theirs instead of an isky - but not because they're better than anyone else.
