    Default 284 with stock tune

I just built a new motor for one of me VK's, it's an EFI 5L, only performance mods are a crane 284 and roller rockers. Will this still be ok using a stock tune? I wanna chuck the motor in soon, but as we know greenfoam always has a lot on his plate and it's hard getting in contact with him. Does anyone else on here do tunes? There's a burnout comp coming up in about 2 months that I wanna take me wagz in with the new motor, and would like to try and get a tune sorted b4 then.

Thanks guys. I've PM'd delcowizzid, and if he can't help, I'll use that tune on delco hacking as I think I know a guy locally which can burn them.

The EFI will run smoother and be more economical....but the carby manifold design flows alot more then the banana manifold so it has alot more potential. And atleast with the carby I can easilly get it tuned here on the dyno.

One of my old motors was pretty much same specs as a stock EFI 304, just had a mild cam (was small really), poocomp single plane manifold and a 750 Holley and it made 174rwkw. It would of gone a bit higher then that but I made a pretty big mistake when I built it which caused it to have shit compression lol. (std rings, 40thou pistons/bores haha)....plus it was still leaning out. So yeah can't wait to see wat this one will do on the dyno.....pretty much same thing again, but correct rings, will make sure it has a better fuel pump, and it has a bigger cam, and 1.65 rockers. Was aiming for 170rwkw with it being EFI....but with the carby setup I rekon we should get 190-200rwkw....JUST MAYBE!!!

Have you thought about going 4 barrel throttle body with EFI? Am thinking of doing that to the missus burnout car. Try and make the intake flow better for more torque.

The thought did cross my mind, but then realise there's no point for this coz it's just a mild street motor which we'll do a lot of k's in (we love goin for road trips in the old nanna-spec VK) so it will be overkill to spend that much on it. If I do that then I may as well splash out and buy an aftermarket ECU so someone can tune the bloody thing lol. So yeah carby for now to have some fun, then when it's back to road trips I'll chuck the stock EFI back on it.

hey mate just a quick off topic question, providing one could be found for cheap enough how do you find those poocomp manifold's? or atleast in comparison to the standard banana's? any help appreciated

I bought my poocomp manifold for $150 second hand. As much as I hate poocomp crap, it actually hasn't let me down. So far it's worked good. It will crap all over the banana manifold as it flows waaay better, but I've only used mine with a carby, I haven't had my injector bosses drilled out. The whole quality of the poocomp manifold seems pretty cruddy. The casting is pretty rough, and some of the holes for the intake bolts aren't 100%, but still go in....it's like the bolt hole isn't centred properly where it should be.

If u can find a cheap one, give it a shot. But definitely don't go buying a new one. My torque power hi rise manifold cost $500 second hand, which they occasionally pop up for still, even seen a redline VN carby manifold for $400 second hand. So if u can't afford to spend $900 on a new decent manifold, buy a second hand decent manifold. Just make sure it's actually the proper ridgy didge manifold and not a copy which is labelled as the original.

Cant tell in pic, your procomp manifold, does it have Torque power with the torque part ground off?

My mate bought one (new cause he was on a budget) and thats how it came lol..
.Quality wasnt too bad tho... not as bad as yours by the sounds

yeah for the hassle it would be better spent money on a decent second hand tp or the like's, then again for $150 aint bad for something that will out do the banana's!
