Lead also acted as a preservative. My dads dirt bike runs on av gas. It sat for two years and then he gave it five kicks and it started.
My ride-VS commo, Just finishing the manual conversion. Working out those annoying bits!

Every Holden V8 I've pulled apart, stock and modded, have all had double row chains. I normally just replace them anyways. Rollmaster billet sets cost about $140 for 9kw version (9 keyways in the crank sprocket to adjust cam timing)...but there is a more basic version without the extra keyways which is probably a bit cheaper.

If it was mine tho I'd just rip the whole motor out and give it a birthday lol. I've got a good 253 which was rebuilt by Richards Motors bout 3-4 years ago...has only done maybe 2000km's since. I might sell that if ur keen? I'd prolly be after around $500 for the short motor. But really if u do start spending money on a 253....you'll regret it later and wish u just bought a 308 lol.

What r ur plans for the Kinga? Could buy a trimatic pattern 308 bottom end and chuck EFI on top of it. All bolt in, no rego hassles, more reliable and better on fuel, PLUS THE HEADS ARE MADE TO RUN ON ULP!!
Oh yeah, I'll check it out, and this is the first engine I've had anything major off so yeah. I don't know what I'm bound to find lol. I think crow cams does a chain for like $100 odd?
I'd maybe do the same if I had more experience on working on engine.. I try to do simple things so I can easily reverse what I've done haha.
Hmm, that's tempting haha. What parts would the engine come with if I bought it? I'm probably looking at spending probably another $400 odd until the engines running.. so might be interested haha.
Uhm just to get it running at this stage TBH, I wanna use it as a weekend cruiser don't really care if every car can pass me.. I like the v8 rumble haha. but I do kindaa... want it to be easy on fuel.....Last time it was running it used to use a full tank to get to adelaide so probably 200K's a tank (75 litres) just doesn't right to me. :\
Yeah I was thinking EFI, I still want to keep the carby looking engine though.. I'm not sure if I can have both <.<

lol, Heard that a few times now haha. We're not sure if the engines had a rebuild at a stage.. It's been modified for sure but can't tell if the internals have been touched..

    Edelbrock.com - EFI - Throttle Bodies - Universal

Dunno about prices, but keeps the carby look.

Yeah actaully I remember seeing this now:

Would I need to change my Manifold or could I keep my original? or wouldn't that support the Injectors?

why on earth would you bother????? are we forgetting the bore/stroke?

also: new chains are about 30 bucks. basically, change one each time you have that cover off.
