Ok so I have 304 in a nissan GQ patrol, and the last time I took it out for a wheel it devloped what was thought to be bottom end knocking

found tis in the sump under the pick up at the bottom of the pan, which seems to be the flap part of the windage tray that is attached to the oil pick up






so what I am now trying to under stand is how can this just fall off the pick up, and can the engine be run with out the pick up having a windage tray *flap thingy*

and what are the thoughts on any potencial engine damage it may have caused


reason for pulling sump off was suspected bearing knock at engine speeds above 3,000rpm the knock seemed to disapear again but a still removed the sump for inspection
