Hi all
A mate of mine recently bought a 308 which he was told was stroked to 355.
Now- eveything else looks standard 308 equipment except for the inlet manifold.
Can someone please tell me a surefire way to identify if it is fact a stroker.
cheers
Tim
Hey dont take this is as gospel but Im sure theres no way you can identify if the engine is a stroker unless you open it up and check the internals.
stomp it and see what happens
also it should have a reasonable sized cam.. have a listen to the exhaust note and it should be lumpy... if it doesnt, get him to rev it then back off and you should notice it then.. (heard a v6 with a cam, idle you couldnt hear it, done that and you could hear it as it revved down).
Put her on the Dyno!
Feed a cable tie down the sparkplug hole and measure longest length without it bending, whilst someone manually turning it over till piston reachs bottom, do the same to a stock 308 and measure difference, or drop oil and have a peep through hole with torch and look for holes drilled on crank weights. Only real way is to rip off sump or head.
