head/cam packages??
hey all i have been looking at afew head/cam/memcal packages. one in particular from come racing.has anyone had a go at one of these before? It is around $2500 which leaves me a bit left for good exhaust and gear change. i am aware that custom tune is much better but i am thinking atm i would like to try it out and see how it goes. any feed back would be great.

thats a pretty cheap price from c.o.m.e.?? have you got specs of the package you want??? also do the heads come bare with no valves?
to be honest im not sure i have emailed them but no reply yet but it says its exchange heads ported to there ss2 or ss3 specs (wat eva they are), cam of your choice and memcal to suit. i was thinking it was a little expensive when i thought of it as cam/memcal from them is $990 and then that leaves $1500 for a bit of head work??? seemed a little high for a port job, though come do seem to have a very good reputation spose ill have to trust them

oh ok thats fair enough.. thats actually about right for a cam/memcal duo, then its another couple hundred for double valve springs and lifters. sounds fair considering yella terra dash 9 heads are over $2500 and i think they are bare heads
yea well thats wat i was thinkin. i think bang for buck wise i cant go wrong and they have probably done heaps of tests and stuff on them so why not i guess! as much as i would like a $10000 motor it just isnt gunu happen
please let us know how it all goes once you have it done. I'm still trying to figure out what i want to do.

i wouldnt be to happy about purchasing a memcal as well, as ive had very bad experiences with camshafts packages, and producing 130rwkw, from a v8......
your better of running a solid camshaft, slight head work, mainly raising the comp ration, and a custom memcal tune for the vehicle. This is a far better way of doing the job. and results will speak for themselves eg 230rwkw monster.Originally Posted by CAM05L

yeah no worries, u will have to fit, a restrictor kit thou.
v8's start making decent power when u get them balanced, as they do require on revs to make the power.
