Rockers and valve springs
What options do we have for the 5L? Near-stock application.
Cheers

Really? Nobody knows anything about possible valve spring upgrades for the 5L, or maybe high-ratio roller rockers or similar??
These just seem like a good (cost effective) way to freshen up the heads, or am I entirely wrong? What benefits do they have in terms of what you'll notice on the street?
Any info appreciated
Cheers

dude. the setup on my car was a kit from crow cams
you get valve springs, lifters, collets, a stage three cam, and a memcal for a decent price. goes alot better. its an easy place to start from. have a look at them mate.

I'm not really looking for a cam though... Daily driver and I don't want to blow my fuel economy. Don't get me wrong I'd love to slot in the lumpiest cam I could get my hands on, it just wouldn't be practical for me.
These were just ideas to give the top of the motor a little freshen-up. No good?

higher ratio rockers and a set of extractors will pep it up a bit. get it a good dyno tune.
You should'nt need new springs.

Now if only there were higher ratio rockers to suit a 5.0

If your worried about fuel ecconomy, drive the 6. No one buys and mods an 8 because its good on fuel.

Right, but that doesn't mean people aren't allowed to buy and mod an 8 and also want to keep an eye on their fuel economy. Plenty of people have good reasons to have a V8 as a daily driver, so being worried about fuel economy is legit.

Well the standard rockers are 1.6:1 Yella Terra supply a 1.65:1 ratio.
There are other ratios provided by other manufacturers.
I have JBA 1.7:1 rollers.
the thing is, its the new trendy thing to fit higher ratio rockers as it substitutes a cam swap to a degree.
I believe personally that the valve lift should be controlled by the cam profile, with the cam designed with those particular rocker ratios, but each to thier own.
Theyre actually designed more so to reduce side loading on the stem and reduce inherent friction in high load applications where the standard stamped rocker cant take it.

So you can get higher ratio roller rockers for the 5L??
OK it's question time:
No re-tuning required right, they're just a bolt-on swap?
Do they fit under the standard rocker covers?
Power gain / practical difference? Good move on stock engine?
What's a set worth and who can I go through to order some?
Once again, any info appreciated as I've never really had anything to do with head or valvetrain work before - everything I've done has been external bolt-on parts.
Cheers

Can you get roller rockers from anywhere reputable for the 5L? High ratio would be nice, but rollers are just all-round better, right?
