yo, went to heathcote last night

my mods are 2.5" 2 muffler cat back system ( i didnt put it on )
modified chip
corvette servo

i have determined that Gtechs are out, gtech read a 14.7 :p
however they are consistant within them self (ie for tuning)

best run was

0.8146 - Reaction time
2.3358 - 60ft
6.4913 - 330ft
9.8961 - 660ft
72.660 - 660ft MPH
12.8352 - 1000ft
15.3321 - 1/4 mile ET
92.900 - 1/4 mile MPH
27.2 - Deg ambient Temp
%10 - Humidity

Followed by

0.8231 - Reaction time
2.3350 - 60ft
6.5126 - 330ft
9.9388 - 660ft
72.210 - 660ft MPH
12.8885 - 1000ft
15.3955 - 1/4 mile ET
92.3800 - 1/4 mile MPH
19.8 - Deg ambient Temp
%22 - Humidity

now, when i was staging, i locked first and couldnt make over 5500rpm, didnt bounce off the limiter, purely wouldnt rev

greenfoam reckons my converted v6 memcal dosnt work, and the afr's could be out etc, i agree soo im going to socket my v8 one

also it was suggested that my valve springs are sagged by a pro dragger, which i agree with

ive got a wade 818 going in soon + new heavy duty valve springs and new gaskets

does humidity effect runs? all i know is when i ran the 15.3321 it was Hot as hell

this was my first time at the track soo i was still learning etc
the rest of the runs were

0.5019 - Reaction time

lol ok, how about u guys go to the track,

like i said mack, gtechs are out in terms of real timing
figured it out, knock board pin snapped off.. retarding timing (was shorting another pin aswell (snapped at knock board)
gteched my stock tune, it was faster... soo i think we can assume that stock XX1's run 15.2 1/4 mile

im gonna socket my v8 memcal this time, no v6 converted ones

i figured the gtech is about 0.5-0.6 seconds out over the 1/4 mile

so this is why i couldnt make over 140km/h and about 5000rpm actually (reviewed some gtech runs)

AND, i didnt go to the track to say im faster than everyone :p i went to the track to get a benchmark to build on i will run a 14 next time i go back :p

have you pulled the plugs to see what they indicate? have you checked your base timing. what kinda condition are the leads/cap and rotor in?

i woulda expected slighly better times then that for the V8

edit: what model Gtech you got, i know the early models aren't as accurate as the later competion and pro models

no cause you posted it as i was typing mine(look at the posting times), and i wasn't that far off cause your issue was timing, just for a different reason then i suggested. but good on ya for figuring it out. :ranting:

yep , given where the short was AFR's were probbly out too.. and speed fuel cut could have been messed with too, as it didnt get over 140km/h just sat there for 3 seconds :p

unfountunally i go into hospital in a week for a operation and i wont be able to drive for 4-5 weeks, so i wont be racing for a while, depends how fast my recovery is.. if i can i will go race :p

Good to see it was the v6 memcal facking you up. I meant use the gtech to compare to your other gtech times to see if it was the memcal, not to compare to the black top. Hurry up and get that v8 one soldered and running again. :)

A 5 litre with a good tune on it will allways make 74-75 mph over the half track, He's made 72 so straight away you can see that it's a fair bit down on power, nearly all stock 5 litres will make 72 mph so straight away the memcal is suspect to me, especaily if he can make the same time or better with a 180kw tune in it the that's just proves that the modified one doesn't work how it should. Either the base timing is out or the knock sensor is not connected!:p and or both etc. Also the gtech he's using reads 1.05 when hanging, to read a accurate time they need to be 1.00 gs . 14.61x1.05 is 15.3. I'm not sure if they do but I assume they have a pot inside to adjust them back to 1.00. Mine reads 1.00 when cold (they bugger up when hot) one day when I find a little screwdriver laying around I'll have a look and see if you can adjust them
