Vr ss 5ltr 5spd man long range tank. What kind of ks should I be getting? Im presently getting around 500.
sounds about right for a VR, if you drive a bit more light footed you may get around 550-600, i get around 660-700 max in my VT
Wow, 600kms!!? i'm lucky to get 300km on my VT 5L..
i get around 650-690 VT SS 5.0litre
Yeah it all depends on foot. If you don't let your car rev over 2000rpm when accelerating away... You'll get great consumption. If you hammer it up to 5500 rpm in first, you'll get no economy what so ever.
I don't use windscreen wipers, i just use the superior handling of the STI to dodge the rain drops.
shit man 300km? you must drive like a led foot!! heres how my tank works, from full to 3/4 - 170km, form 3/4-1/2 - 170km, from 1/2-1/4tank 130km, from 1/4 to empty 130-50km on average consumption. i drive pretty normally unless someone wants to race at the lights or im pissed off overtaking someone.
Yeah I know, 300-350km.. its crazy.
I'm stuck in traffic most mornings so it takes at least 30 mins to get to work, and another 30 mins to get back.
The "Kms to empty" function on my dash has no meaning to me whatsoever, it goes down 10Km every few Km, lol..
i get 650 out of my vr but it has a 8o litre tank
I get about 400-500klms out of mine driving in the country on cruise but passing the odd car,the more cars i pass the less i get.
Hey guys,
I'm thinking of buying a VR Senator. I am interested in knowing the highway cycle economy. If any one out there can do the simple litres used * 100 / kms calculation then you will have the litres/100km figure that would be useful to me. Our family Berlina does around 9.5 lts/100kms on a trip fully loaded with gear and kids. I have never ever got anywhere near 7lts per hundred that is claimed for the V6.
I currently drive a twin turbo 2.5 lt Soarer and it gets 9.6lts/100kms on highway cycle - not bad for a car with 206Kw (conservatively speaking).![]()
So can anyone provide some realistic figures?
Thanks

i got a vp ss 5.0 bout a 60l tank and i only get bout 300kms. but it hugly depends on ur foot..
I got a 5.0 VP SS with a standard tank 56odd litres and i get 400kms, a bit more if i take it easy.
Howdy ive got a VR 5.0 and it gets about 450km to a std tank. not too bad considering my VL turbo used to get 320 to a full tank cruising and lucky to get 150km when pushin.... no shit!!

hey ppls just want to find out a few things im picking up a vr v6 for $700 and wat modifications would i have to do to get it into my vk? any responces are apreciated
490'ish Km's on 90% H'way useage sitting on 115km/hr.
around 300-420 in the city depending upon the right foot. 58 Ltr tank
its a 5ltr 5spd ute with pacemakers, 2.5in exhaust + opened cat, K&N extreme pod filter + turbo pipe, polished TB, chip, cleaned injectors. and it runs on 96 octane
That Berlina Is Getting Good K's Per Hundred Kilometres. Had A Vr V6 Got Around The Same.stick With The V6 If You Care About The Fuel Prices.
I Think Standard Tank Size For A Vs Ss Is 63 Lt And I Can Never Get Over 450k's Even On The Freeway
I've got a VR 5.0L BT1
I currently do 20L/100 for city driving. It's terrible! That's not thrashing either.
Country driving is a lot better tho. Probably get about 13L+/100
i used to have a VS II SS that slightly modified did 550-600 km's to the tank (65 ltr), with a long range tank you should be able to get 600+ unless you're flooring it off everyline and leaving the boys in blue for dead on the highway.
I curently run a VL Calais 5ltr that at the moment does about 300 km's to the tank but as a recently found out the V8 versions of the VK/VL had a foam fuel float, after about ten years the float absorbs fuel and sits below the fuel level.
This causes a number of problems
1) the fuel gauge to appear incorrect (about 1/4 tank less than actual),
2) the car will rev high (Idle around 1000rpm instead of 500rpm), and
3) the car will use excessive amounts of fuel.
iv got a 5l vn ss and it gets roughly 400km in the city with me driving it a bit hard. havent ever driven it granny style for a full tank yet![]()
cat? isnt that an animal? no i dont want one in my exhaust system thankyou very much...

same here i drive 60k per day in peak hour and that takes me 2hrs.Originally Posted by seabs
on the hwy i get 400km from a bit more than half a tank sitting on about 120-140
I got 720 kms from 96 litres of fuel on the hiway...
Pretty sure SS has a 80 litre tank????
21.5 miles per gallon = 9.2 kilometers per litre
AFS909 I recommend you buy a manual if you want to drive a V8 and live in the burbs. You'll save yourself close to two litres per hundred and that is no exhageration. I currently drive a 5.0 220kw au2 manual and can tell you that I average around 450 km to a tank in suburban traffic. On the highway I get 750 km to the tank going 120 all the way. The windsors are arguably the most efficient local V8 ever produced. The old 304 wouldn't be far behind.
Yesterday I went from Newcastle to Grafton a total of 536 km, I fueled up at Grafton and my VS V8 swallowed 49.3 litres for this trip. I always use 96 octane or better. This works out to be 9.2 litres / 100 km or 30.75 MPG and I believe I could of got better than that if I nursed the car most of the way.
I filled up at the servo with 98RON then drove approximately 210 k's and used 19 litres of fuel.
I suck at maths, so someone work that out![]()
The very existance of flamethrowers proves that sometime, somewhere, someone said to themselves, 'You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to do it.
