    Default Auto to Manual conversion

    Folks,

I want to convert my 5ltr to a manual... I am struggling to find a decent conversion kit that includes fly, pedals etc etc (The whole kit).. I dont want to put an m20 in as I have heard it will crap itself pretty quickly (Especially since I plan on working the engine).. I was looking at a t5 but can't find any complete kits with shifter, pedal box etc etc..

So my question is can I put a gearbox kit from say a Turbo onto a 5ltr?? Will it matter or won't it work??

    Thanks for your responses ppl's

just gotto keep looking mate, i was looking for a little while then i came across one for $900 for everything, all i really had to get was a couple of bits and pieces like clutch and mount and stuff.

best bet would be to search a few forums and keep watch of ebay, also the ford box fits but you just need a bellhousing to suit

yup my opinion runs 100% with Kniever, you would also be suprised, when conversion do pop up, no1 wants to buy them, i had a v6 vn 5spd man conversion kit up for like 6mnths b4 it went lol so if one does come up, im sure it will be up for a while
Yeah we dont do burnouts, we do stationary wheel rotations, much more sophisticated.

At the end of the day, you SHOULD buy a new clutch + spigot bush + throwout bearing + pressure plate when you do the conversion. So don't necessarily look for a kit that includes those parts.

Conversion kits can be had relatively cheaply, I picked mine up for $1000 with everything mickey mouse.

I was selling all the manual gear out of my VB (M20) for $600....I posted it on a forum and it was sold within minutes, not the whole lot tho, still got the manual pedal box, clutch cable and trans tunnel plate (the buyer wasn't converting to manual)....but another lad is waiting on me to pull the other bits out which weren't sold coz he wants to buy them. And the other week I noticed that one of our parts cars (VC) had a V8 pedal box in it.....sold that pretty quick for $100....found a buyer easy as! We were bout to scrap the car too, lucky I checked it out lol.

Manual stuff must be getting harder to find these days.

You drive in reverse alot???? But yeah the T5 isnt extactly a magic box but its proven reliable over the years. And $1700 for a full conversion is a bit rich, that sounds like what a wreckers would charge me around here. Have you had a look on ebay yet.

a supra conversion is going to cost about the same as t5 if not more once you add in all parts required. Not to mention theres really only 3 good supra boxes and theyre getting as hard to find as t5 and skyline turbo boxes
