Yiou could fix them quite easy some new bends and reweld it. Theyre absolutely crushed looks like they got wrapped around the rack

spot on! then they also got pounded around a bit on the transmission body as i was driving it. funnily enough, they cooked the drivers side engine mount so i am up for a new one of them too, even though i replaced this one only about 9 months ago

gonna get a couple of mandrel bends and just slice off the damaged bits. priced up a full exhaust system a while back and it was 400 for all the bends, flanges, mufflers and piping, so ill just add another 80 bucks for a couple more bends.

the temptation for VN heads is strong, just not strong enough to justify the price. itll be $3000 before i am looking at re-fitting the engine and i just cant afford to do that. 500 for the heads, intake 700 bucks, headers 700 bucks, cam+lifters 500 bucks (1500 if i go roller, which i would want to do with VN heads) plus 400 for the exhaust repair 200 odd for gaskets etc = $3000. unless the pala sells, itll be years b4 i got that kind of liquid cash.

There was a lad selling some heads for $100 on here. Or buy a whole motor, should be able to pick one up for under $500, they do pop up occasionally, last one I bought I got for $200 complete! Then ya got ya heads, plus cam. $70 for a set of lifters. Find a set of the VN/VP/VQ tube extractors, I sold a set for $80 a while back, and they fit VK's with power steering coz that's wat the guy used them in that I sold them too...the only bit ya might have to spend a bit extra on is the manifold as they don't pop up 2nd hand very often, but they do occasionally!

Can't ya do some panel work on the side or sumfin? I'd hire ya if u were closer!

man i wish i had access to your sort of pricing been watching ebay for ages and best i can find for heads is 350, but then 150 postage.

but am curious as to this tube extractors thingie. vp/hsv extractors (eBay item 260757337994 end time 30-Mar-11 16:14:41 AEDST) : Cars, Bikes, Boats that type of thing? might save me a fortune if its that easy.

Yeah mate they're the ones. They didn't fit in my VK with a manual rack, but yeah apparently they fit with power steering.

Check this build thread out on HCC, this is the guy that bought them. Shows some info and pics of his build. I've heard of other people using the same extractors.

Oh yeah he used a VN 5.0L kframe and rack too along with the VL intermediate shaft, which would explain why they fit.
