Yeah thats just a hot spot, Restriction more then an actuall blockage. Y pipes are gay as aids.

And dude, that rust in a VK... you'd wanna be madly in love with the shell... (Fill the petrol filler as well)

In a "kiss" pipe, yes, if they go a blue sort of colour then they are restrictive, which most kiss pipes are. X pipes (well, true X pipes) have the same diameter through the whole line of each pipe as it crosses over so it doesn't restrict the flow at all.

What you actually have there is just a mild steel, non coated collector welded in. It is just rusty because it isn't aluminised like the pipe either side of it. Just the silver paint that was sprayed onto it has burnt off.

It isn't restrictive though, if it was, the pipe directly behind it would be burnt and not just the collector.

Yeah, I would've said what Not_An_Abba_Fan has said, about the exhaust...

'Ken nice job on the LPG Filler Ari, No warpages?
Definatley do the Fuel filler too! - You've gotta cut up the boot floor anyway with all that rust, so while there's a hole in there, geterdun!!

Beaver panel, just cut a rectangualr strip out of it all the way along, (don't worry about the curves and indents in it) and replace it with a bit of that thicker 'structual' steel you were using on the impala. lol

am going to take a much close look at moving the filler neck today. how did you go about pressure testing yours after you moved it, zeussy? or did you just pray that its sealed i gotta zap up the hole in the bottom of the tank, so am thinking i will just completely slice off the drivers side and replace with a plate of steel. so that way i can run the other exhaust out there without fear of cooking the fuel tank.

Good effort with it, looks sweet, it takes a bit longer welding, but saves you hours of body work later on!!

Pressure testing? LOL Nothing special, put an airline in the neck and jammed some rag up against it. I put like 4 layers of weld over it in the first place, just to make sure!
Thats actually a really good idea Ari!! I might have to steal it from you! I like twins

they are not free yet either

some work, as i said, i am only going to patch things up to fix what i shouldve done years ago:

and no, i will not be drilling out the drainage hole (no one ever drains the wheel well anyway) and no i wont be grinding back the welds just rust converted some of the rusty gaps near it and stoneguarded both sides. i ground a few dags off the bottom though.

luckily i have a couple of these strips left from the impala boot seal:

just had to put a bit more curve into it and it fit up loverley:

DOOOOOD - Wheel well. Should be cut off flat like the rest of the boot floor, then you can run the exhaust wider, Plus it'l look tidy not seeing the hump from underneath!

Well, thats what I did anyway Keep them pics flowing man, I can feel an itch in my welding/trigger finger!!

Pfft spare wheel, real men don't need spare wheels lol

Nahhh, I'm not too sure, maybe laying flat beside the fuel filler. (the filler neck takes up a huge chunk of the boot floor, so I figured the boot is more or less useless!)

difficult to make out whats going on in these pics, but this is the boot floor cut away. because i have a lot of time/steel and welding gas i have decided to just make my own floor, rather than spending 200 bucks which could almost buy a new shell. plus i dont have 200 bucks.

so the idea i have gone with works in a few stages. firstly i am attaching the rear sections to the rear beaver, this side is the passenger side:

bottom right of that pic you can see a plate with a hole in it and a round thing about it? thats where the fuel tank strap is attach, so that needs to be retained. i am attaching the passenger side piece first, then the drivers side, then the rear section of the plate.

hopefully that will leave me with a nice straight edge to atach the rest of the floor to.

now the difficult part is the fact that i cant replicate the ribs that the old floor has, so i am going to just create new ones running straight from left to right. hopefully thta should give it enough strength to not bow in the middle.

yeah yeah, "what a waste of time" etc etc etc. any better suggestions would be welcomed.

    C'mon, Pic's, now!!

Is that the same silver you used on Dirby's bars? If so - WIN!

yeah same silver. not sure if im going to mix a dash of glitter in the clear or not. but im ages away from that stage yet. i planned on taking pics when i got the boot floor all welded in. so far i have it all cut out and spot welded in, just trimming it to shape. once its all seam welded i will stick something up.

the problem is, its all butchery, and im not that proud of what i am doing. but poor-dom is forcing my hand. plus the plan is to stick this girl on ebay and donate any proceeds to the impala. so i just wanna push it through RWC any way i can.

wow didnt realise you had this or how much work your doing on it. I like the colour scheme especially if calais door moulds are used. Ari if you need any steel folded cut to size rolled or whatever let me know and i'll help you out. We have heaps of scrap steel mainly 2mm but if you just need any folding or anything ill do it for you.

    ARRRGHHH!!! really?
    lol
i had this awesome plan for putting ribs into the floor but suffered a HUGE fail, when i realised i could only stick 100mm worth of steel downwards in my vice (herp derp) so the floor is just going in as flat steel and gonna (maybe) weld some external ribs on it.

but thanks yeah, i might just take you up on that
