i dunno yet. for some reason work has completely dried up so i am broke as f..k. its running a little on the lean side too so will stick a couple of bigger jets in it tomorrow then god knows when i can get it dyno'ed

my target when i first started was 220HP at the wheels cos' then on paper it would beat a 32 GTR.

you see, i work on japanese imports and my morkmates all poured scorn on me when i bought the VK saying "itll never go as fast as your GTR" which was stolen and with the insurance money i bought this instead with the idea that if it was stolen, i wouldnt care. but slowly i have been experimenting with mods to make it a bit of a weapon.

anyway, it breaks out at 60kmph if i tramp it and drop down to 1, which makes me smile

i would have to guess i hit the target of 220HP at the wheels but would really hope for more than that.

lol, KW? not a chance. hp is being a little more reasonable but still not realistic. 300RWKW would be forced induction. i dont evn think the bathurst racecars had 300RWKW

yeah, thats why dyno guy said. next mod is a HP body for my 650 double pumper and single plane manifold. he said thatll pump it up around 20 horses at the fly, but wont make much difference to RWKW, maybe 5-10

biggest problem with too bigger carby is lean problems at high revs.. or you are wasting fuel and down on horses... matched solution is best in this case.. bigger not necessarily better.. GO EFI

the whole challenge behind this build is to make a 308 to go faster in a straight line than a R32 GTR. the clauses are that it must be 308, not stroked, and carb'd. its a work thing, everyone still takes the piss outta me for modding a commodore...

so this weekend was a commitment of re-doing my inlet manifold, because i descovered that i could no longer remove my distributor ?!?! anyways, refitted the manifold without dramas, fitted a 1 inch phenlonic spacer, cut the choke horn off my 650 DP an ground it down nice an flat and fitted that.

only to descover to my dismay that this carby is nowhere near setup for this engine in regards to power valve, jets, pump shots etc. so now i have to go through the whole precess of getting it all working efficiently again.

    *sigh*

leave the Quaddy on and take the car to someone who knows how to set them up - you'll be much happier with the results.
the power output does seem a little low for the engine work you have done. Are you sure the cam timing is spot on ? A couple of degrees out can really dull an engines performance

yeah i dialled it in at zero. the cam card said 0.81(?) inlet lobe lift at TDC, thats what it measure up to @ 0 so thats what i did. advancing the cam with a matched lobes really doesnt achieve the same result as a cam with different lobe seperation, so i just left it alone.

my thinking has moved to a possible rouge lifter or dud valve install height, but i CBF taking the manifold off again to check them so everything is staying as is till the impala is back on the road and i can take the time to drop the engine back out of this car.

agreed, quaddy's are a very underrated carb IMO, once you find someone to set it up, i bet you will be surprised.

my old man is running a quaddy on his 360 stroker 308, but its nearly at its limits, and he is also using the edelbrock performer manifold. pretty torquey motor, revs about the same as yours going by the dyno sheet.

wow, have not posted in here for a while... anyway. this is something i should have done months ago. there is a local smack head who keeps breaking into my car and f'ing the locks up. lets see him f' this one up eh?

as you can see he stuffed the lock up:

so instead of repairing it, i thought i would get rid of it altogether, since this car is remote central locking anyway:

    grindie grindie:

after bog and some rubbing and some spray paint:

and it turns out that my missus decision for the dash colour in the impala is a really close match to my VK's colour so thats pretty kewl

am gonna block it back once its had a few days to dry. stay tuned for the drivers side
