Good Luck with your project.
I am about to dump a V6 in my VB.
Just stick with it. Ebay is a good place to pick up cheap parts.
Cheers
Pete
thanks man, i'm def's stickin with it but i've got a few set backs alreadyi found quite the amount of rust i didnt want to.. the whole boot floor, right rear door arch, near the door at the top nd bottom of both front front guards, the underside of the bonnet lip nd few little specs on all doors..
good luck but you should have waited and bought a v8
yea i wud really love to hav somthin like an LS1 with 6sp manual in it but i'm only on my Ls, dont really hav much money nd thought the v6 will certainly be somthin different around my area.. besides the vp exec i bought for parts was only $80 nd had 3/4 tank of petrol!
Mine has a bit of rust too. Under the windscreen rubbers, left sill and boot floor.
My boot had a lot of surface rust with a few holes. I cleaned it up with a wire brush on a drill, fibreglassed over it then painted all with a heavy bitumen body deadener. You would never know.
Pete
i already started cuttin out the boot floor, if i cant find a proper boot floor in good nic from the wreckers then i'll make it out of sheet metal, also hav to make a new boot sill.
Hi Mate . Rare Spares do rust replacement panels for the boot and spare wheel carrier . Once the rust is cut out the project will speed up![]()
Cheers Mick .
HOLDEN. Not just a car . But a way of life !

yeh rarespares do have repair panel that are a good start but not a perfect match
Iv used the repair panels from rare spares and your better of getting a panel beater to make the panel up for ya was a prick to line up.
Mate
What gearbox, diff and brakes are you going to run with?
Pete
wow man i would of gave the bloke a carton of beer for that car... goodluck with her!! tackle the rust early before it spreads!! N buy a weather cover!!
it was a 4cyl auto originally lol, wen i bought it had no motor, gearbox, instrument cluster or front suspension at all, som elderly chap owned.. i hav an auto box atm but might be gettin the T5 i put in my bro's vr accaim, i hav fitted a vp rear axle includin diff because i wanted to upgrade to disc brakes, i thought that wheels wud stick out heaps tho but i dont think they do really.
look under the seal in the boot an you will find rust to all most all the people i know with a commodore thats a vb-vk find it there and the wreckers riped you a bit i got my vh for 350 and it's got a 6 but you will have fun working on it feel free to arsk if you need help we are all nice people and will do the best we can
to help you have fun il be waching this thred =)

I am going to run a VN diff. How much guard clearance do you have? What wheels do you have on? A photo would be good. Thanks Pete
my car is a at mates a few k's out of town, but i hope to go out today for a little while so i'll try nd get som pic's for ya
tom
a vn diff would have to be shortened to have the same clearance
Mate
The VN diff is about 60mm wider that is why I am interested know. That is why I will be running with 215/60R15s for clearance. I have an adjustable panhard rod. I am keen to know if I have to roll the guards. I am a few weeks off fitting the diff. It should then have a really mean stance with the rear guards full.
alright and have to have stockys on it so the tyres dont rub and yeh you would have to roll the guards
yea most likely, i'll definately hav to roll my guards coz it will be sittin on superlowsbut atm it's just got the standard 15x6 chaser's on the rear.. although it is really temptin to put my bro's 16's on it coz the rear treads are 245's lol
