Hey Guys,
Haven't been on here in a long while unfortunately and was fixing up the Calais when a sudden wave of nostagia hit me and I started going through all my old pics of my VH SS and my old VL Berlina ( see appropriate thread for pics of that one and the calais).
I still regret selling it ( even more so now for only $2750!) and wish I still had it in the shed to play with.
It wasn't anything special. It had been stolen and recovered and the bastards had taken all the ID tags. It had a 253 fitted into as well, but it still got up and boogied along when I needed it too. The interior had seen better days after living down at the beah in the sun most of it's life and the tail end had rusted out as it was used to tow a boat. But it was mine and I loved it. Here are some pics:-
looks a bit like my cars twin - nice car
are you sure of it's a genuine SS though ? I've got a genuine VH SS myself, that was originally a 4.2L - pics here 82 vh ss
There's a few things that don't seem right in your pics, like the plastic/chrome trim around the front & rear windscreens (SS had the same proper metal/chrome strip as the SL/E except it was painted black). The SS also didn't come out with rubber door belts, they had a small strip of black plastic running along the bottom edge of the panel under the bumper bar (where the spoiler usually mounts on the Brocks) They also had rear head rests like the SL/E
As far as I was told it was a SS. The rear headrests were there, but they had been destroyed by the sun so I removed them and put a seat cover on the rear seat for the kids. It did originally have a 308 in it but the previous owner blew it up and put a 253 in it instead! All the other little SS tell tails were there and don't think anyone would have gone to all the trouble of getting all the little SS things to make a clone. The previous owner had documents saying it was an orignal one but I never got them off him. He moved interstate as soon as I bought the car and I had to pick it up from his parents place. Tried to get it several times but couldn't get hold of him in the end so gave up. Would have been nice to have it all documented though.
Love your SS. It's clean as. Nice job. If I still had mine I would have done the same thing to the engine as you have done. Now I want it back! The guy I sold it to is in Sydney. Don't know what happened to it after that.
