Hey there,
Just thought I'd attach some pics of my original '79 VB
some notes:
- still needs some panelbeating and repainting
- engine underbonnet has had decals installed
- nrma badge has been replaced with a more period correct 70s-80s one (one you see dates from the early 90s)
- drivers seat has since been repaired
- as part of the display am also getting together a late 70s picnic setting, with trimmings etc - saw a guy do it for a '64 EH was a great idea - so I have sourced 70s picnic table, magazines, books, picnic items, food/beer containers etc for next show (hopefully NRMA Sydney motorfest
- only non original items are stereo and kill switch
- in keeping with originality I went thru my iTunes and sourced every decent track released 1978-1980, put onto playlist. When driving the commodore I usually have this playlist going (atm 150 tracks and growing). also have this playlist going when I display it at shows.
Mate
It is similar to mine.
Vinyl interrior same colour.
Mine is in Flemanco REd.
Traxx do a scale model of this vehicle.
How many ks has it done?
well, when I bought it it said 122k, but turns out the odometer was broken (very, common fault) and worked sporadically. fitted a new speedo - did not work - sent speedo away to get fixed and odometer now works all the time.
given that the motor and transmission are still in excellent condition I would say no more than 150k
I have that model; it is of an SL rather than the base model
The interior looks to be in very good condition. Picnic tabke = great idea![]()

Yours has an SLE bumper with over riders.
