Hi guys,
Im new to this forum and commodores as i've always been a corolla fan(rwd's). So after getting over the small amount of power and the difficulty of finding a decent shell or donor car I have now gone to one of the cars that I always wanted to buy before I got my licence the Vk. Well at the time I wasn't really looking into buying a new project as I just started my mechanic apprenticeship a few months ago but came across something that I thought was perfect to start a project so I had to buy it(well I didn't but I did lol). Ok well here I have a Gold 1984 Vk with a standard 202 and auto, didn't really care about it being a six as I have bigger and better plans down the line. The shell is basically rust free and the body is straight so it makes it perfect for what I want(and as a plus it runs fairly well).
Ok well I knew when i bought it it was going to be a long build which i think might take around 3-4 years but that is what I am looking at doing as of my petty wage and time to work on it. All up im expecting to spend around 20-30k mark on her but you can't really put a price on how much your going to actually spend if you want the car the way you want it. Keep in mind guys that this is going to be a weekend car once im finished so im hoping for something with pretty numbers from the old girl(hoping around the 500-600rwhp mark). My major plans are to get the car registered and build the motor while its on the road and when its ready put it all in.
Future mods:
350 chev
471 or 671 blower
9 inch
Vt brake upgrade
t400
retrimmed interior
respray it either gunmetal grey or that blue mica the new commodores are
half cage
there are many other things but can't remember them at this current moment
Ok well I am going to post up all the progress of this build when i get the chance. As I said im on apprentice wages and I can only spend as much as I can each fortnight and only get to work on it every saturday as I have other commitments(mainly spending time with the missus) so again it will be a slow but steady build.
Well I hope you guys enjoy
Ill upload pictures as soon as I can figure out how to upload them. For some reason it only uploaded the picture of the panhard rod I removed.
