I picked up my wagon about 2 weeks ago after being over the whole chev in a commo thing and selling my vb.
Its basicly a stock 202 vh sl pretty tidy for and old girl and its had all the suspension done with kings lows allround, new shocks and all the bushes, balljoints ,tie rods, steering rack etc... it came with 14"stocko wheels and mud flaps but they didnt last long before i ripped the flaps off and fitted the 17"s of our xu6.
Plan is to drop in a healthy 355, t400 and custom vl diff then tidy up the carpark dings and give it a fresh coat of paint and possibly a vh group 3 kit.
I will update as things progress but its gunna take me a while.
That is a very nice clean vh wagon.
I'm looking in getting a VH sedan and droping in a super 6
i have thought about turbo 202 then v6 then super 6 but i just cant be bothered with efi. clean simple easy to work on is what i want hence the sale of the vb it was shit to work on.
Haha that thing is awesomejealous
new pic from last weekend. also in the process of gathering parts for engine build, going to be 355 with vn heads, crane 280 cam, come low single plain, 750dp, msd etc etc...... looking for at least 350rwhp may even go to 288 cam and already got th400 and vl diff almost ready to go in.
Very nice indeed! Clean example of a VH Wagoonie there!
Nice interior, is it out of a VK or original? (seats and door trims)
Got any other plans for it?
all original except the wheels as far as i can tell but its had a respray some time in its life and once the drive line is done it will be getting done again. the pics hide alot.
once the drive line is done i will be removing the spare wheel well and getting a drop tank made then running the exhaust out each side.
ah good to see you back with a Holden V8
Chev's were never a good conversion in a Commodore, and really have no advantage over the Holden V8 anyway - apart from maybe cheaper performance parts.
and even better you are now in a red VH! Good choice
the interior has the same exact colour scheme as my previous VH.
Should be one tough wagon once you drop the 355 in, keep us updated
might see it out at the Munch Inn
Car is now off the road for an engine transplant. Going to an ecotec out of a vs as it was to cheap to pass up and next year will be getting either a v8 or turbo.
will post some pics of prgress as they come to hand.
few pics of yesterdays progress.
Put in vs lower radiator support so i could use the vs radiator, moved battery tray to drivers side. few rust repairs and holes to fill and run the wiring to make necessary holes then it will be time to smooth and paint.
Ooohh, nice work!
Makes me want to get this VH back together and in one peice! Like the looks of a V6 in the early gurl!
Good idea with the radiator support, I wanted to do that for my project, but ended up scraping the shell and forgot to cut it out :/ lol
i am lucky we cut the lower support out for my mates vt wagon as we didn't realize that our plans for the lower mounts wasn't going to work. most of the fabrication was completed today but still have a few holes to fill before it gets smoothed and painted. dummied up the extractors, air box and removed the salsbury diff and fuel lines and brake booster. tomorrow should have the floor painted, disc brake borgwarner diff in place and fuel lines ran vs tank fitted tranny crossmember fabed and rest of the holes filled.
engine bay painted ready for engine to go back in.
Ooooh looks nice
One picture simply cannot show just how much work has gone into it, to get it to look like that... lol,
Bet there was a few hours hand sanding in all those curves,
Ya never know, seeing this get built might get me keen??![]()
got that right but i admittedly cut corners because in the next 12 months the whole thing is changing color but i just couldnt leave it as it was.
engine is back in today along with alot of other thing but no pics as i forgot my camera and the car is being done at a mates place.
few more piccies. diff nearly in,vs tank in and nice fitting air box and snorkle.
It continues to amaze us as how well everything fits nearly everything in the bay is vs even the factory vs exhaust fits nice once shortened in the middle a few inches.
IT RUNS!!! now just to finish things off. My mate (and mechanic) still has a few wiring finishing touches and the rest is just about bolt up and away we go.
Taken a bit longer than expected due to a few changes but should be on the road again next week. Got a vl 28 spline lsd in it now aswell as 2.5" cat back system but still no dash back from Castle auto, better be here tomorrow![]()

Well suffered another massive set back last night, finally got it on the road and went for a drive to the usual firday night at munch inn and my supposed 1500k ago reco motor is now rooted. It has massive big knock to the point its about to throw a leg out of bed![]()
What i dont understand is how a motor so quiet and smooth can get so bad so quick, it has good oil pressure good oil and wasnt absued at all so im a bit guttered at the moment.
